Which win do you think would you look back at as the win that put our team back on the map and set us up for an exciting and hopefully successful future.

Both unreal wins, and as much as I hate Hawthorn, the Geelong win was huge for mine. A) 186 B) I'll forever remember it as Max Gawns coming out party

Hawks for me pretty easily. Great win at Geelong especially because 186 and ruining their celebrations. They were a mediocre team last year though finishing 10th plus we played better this time around imo.

The Geelong win suggested we were heading in the right direction, the Hawthorn win confirmed we were.

I'll take confirmation any day.

Both wins were a thing of beauty.

Hawthorn easily, they'd won 9 straight (i think), Geelong weren't in great form last year. Both fantastic wins though.

Hawthorn for basically the reasons stated by maxmustard here

Good question, arguments for both:

Geelong
- Gawns breakout game
- Burying 186
- Roos tactical brilliance (Not saying he didn't have it in the Hawthorn game because he did, but everything he did worked against Geelong)

Hawthorn
- Young talent time
- Beat the top of the ladder side for the first time since ???
2012.

I would say Geelong was Gawn's breakout game as an AFL player but Hawthorn has cemented Gawn as the AFL's current undisputed best ruckman.

Hawthorn. Because that win put us on the map as a team that doesn't feature Lamumba and Dawes. And Rohan Bail FFS. You can't immortalise a game with Rohan Bail in it.

Anyone ever suggest to you that sometimes you can think a bit too far outside the box?
I'm so far outside the box I nearly ran into Cale Morton, but he squibbed out of the contact.

Looking over the paul roos journey. The Adelaide win was the first important win for the club, it was at that point I felt the club announced it was back in the competition and that the players looked like they started to believe that the clubs back on the right path. The Hawthorn is a great way to end the paul roos journey. It's like everything that paul roos has talked about over time has clicked in. From being competitive for longer patches in matches and getting those little wins on the way to now to be able to beat the best teams in comp. There's no doubt he's accomplished exactly what he set himself to do. Now it's up to Goodwin to continue the great work.

Speaking of Cale Morton and outside the box, I just realised that Mack Horton (Dees supporting Olympic swimmer) is a spoonerism of Hack Morton.

Back on topic, this win over the hawks is the culmination of everything Roosy has done to rebuild this club since he came on board. If it were a movie he would have ridden off into the sunset post-game and then dissapeared before our eyes, leaving us all to wonder if he was ever really here it all... Except he definitely was and his legacy will live on in the competitiveness and new found camraderie of our playing group. I love that there is a seminal game we can point to for each year roosy had with us - the Adelaide win in 2014, the Geelong one in 2015 and now this... The greatest of them all.

Beating Hawthorn was so, so satisfying. And to do it in Weidemans first game, with Oliver, Petracca, Brayshaw, Hunt, Viney.. I could go on... And Gawny playing the game of his ****ing life.

This is the win that I will turn to at different stages of my life from here on out. Hopefully as the beginning of our premiership team

I like what MrMonkey said.

I think the Adelaide win was biggest. For so long, under Bailey, Neeld, even Daniher for most of his coaching we would 'phone in' away performances and never look like winning. I use to go to AAMI Park and watch us lose comfortably every time by about 10 goals knowing the players were never in it, even if we were playing better than Crows or Port during the season. You just knew it the moment they warmed up. We couldn't even beat Port at the inaugural AO game in 2011 in the year they were the moral wooden spooners.

Similar with games in Subiaco. Watch on the tv having absolutely zero faith.

This game marked a huge change for me within the mentality of the club. That every game is suddenly winnable if the effort, intensity and sometimes a bit of luck goes our way. Even with a large hostile crowd.
