Anybody who looks beyond the gov/msm hype will quickly discern that major international sporting events invariably cost their hosts money. Big money. Like parasites, the IOC, FIFA etc move in, collect billions, and move on, leaving host nations to deal with useless stadia and huge public debts.

See Greece (host of 2004 Olympics).

Fancy a canoe? Howabout a kayak? There used to be water in this structure...

No, there is great lesson in that. The big bad secretive Russians tried to tell the UN atomic energy agency the extent of the damage. They were told since you're broke and need help, you better shut up about that or else. The thing was they were broke because the west deliberately dragged them in to any proxy war they could for the express purpose of sending them broke.

It is far more than a white elephamt.

Sporting events are a funny one

I hate the look of these instantly built sporting arenas splashed with basic color and bad turf

Look at a country like ours, imagine seeing Brazil v Argentina play a game of soccer at Adelaide oval or Bolt running 100m at the MCG

The stadiums have no character, and always end up like the photos from the OP

You wouldn't be getting ideas from the dreaded MSM would you SB? I could have sworn I saw these pictures in one of the Murdoch rags this week.

Yeah it's the Ryugyong Hotel in Best Korea. Was going to be their answer to the Seoul Olympics and the world's tallest hotel in Singapore (Built by a South Korean Company). They might just miss the boat there.
