Oh boy, if i were a sports administrator id turn some sports around. Rugby League, for instance, has a massive amount of flaws and redundant rules, and ive posted about my vision of that game on the RL board ages ago. It was met with a lot of agreement, and you know how they can be territorial there.

Im an ideas man. Doesnt mean every idea hits the mark, but im right about what's wrong with games/rules.

What AR needs is a smaller field (id go rectangle) and deliberate intent to introduce HARDER body contact. That's it in a nutshell. It just sounds controversial because i said it as "hybrid of gaelic, hockey, AR". People take that like i mean some monstrosity like Slamball or Baseketball or whatever that thing was called. No, i just mean.....rectangle or small field, more tackling bumping, more congested field so that skills come to the fore, and maintain that free-flowing nature like hockey, gaelic, AR.

How lucky that we can follow both virtually 12 months of the year.

And the skills in both sports have never been better.

True on the first point TGBB but I beg to differ on the next point. Tonights games were a dogs breakfast but at least a Fijian can adapt well enough to be the NEW BUDDY! :thumbsu: Some idiot dropped $$50 G's on the Horrible Hawks as well.. :D they said before the game.. I reckon any top 5 team in SANFL or WAFL can give the pathetic Dees a run for their money. Disgraceful for a 'alleged professional team'.. all hotch potch to me. Can't wait 'til the real stuff starts.

My vision of Aust Football is making it a 100 meter rectangular field, maybe 11 a side, and it would make that game become fiercer tackling and bumping, more skill set required, start seeing specialist positions.

dumbest thing i've ever read

that's not a vision for AFL that's a vision for a new sport

make those changes and you'd see nfl like scorelines aswell

It's called 'piss take' SbC. ;) GG is not a big AFL fan. Thanks for dropping into our forum.

might have been a bit rash, i was a little offended

GG does happen to be on bigfooty, an AFL site

and i dropped in as i think it's an interesting topic, i just got a little sidetracked

on that Randy Moss in his prime has to be one of the best athletes to go through the NFL, never seen anything like he and Larry Fitzgerald's ability to be running full tilt & then jump and turn mid-air to catch the ball

It's cool ShouldBeCoaching.
It's very hard to tell when im being serious and when im not.
But i must say, and this is the truth, woodson can vouch for it...

I watch more Netball on ONE HD now than AFL. 5 mins of AFL and i flick the station over.
I used to love watching AR about 10 years ago, but now it's unbearable.

that's fair enough footy's not for everyone. if anything i think watching exeptionally attractive women in tiny outfits is one substitute that isn't all bad

The glimpse of a bit of female thigh and ass never gets dull.
But even as a sporting spectacle
I'm a big sports fan, and have loved AR all my life, but it's really gotten stale for me the last 5 years.
It's kinda like soccer/gaelic in the free flowing nature, but i find both soccer and gaelic more interesting now.
If you notice too....soccer goals tend to have more of an exciting build-up to them, like a crescendo towards an orgasmic finish.
Whereas AFL goals are kind hum-drum with so much short chipping and marking into the forward line.
Stop start, uncontested.
While soccer/gaelic, cos you cant "mark" a ball, it's always play-on.
Maybe AFL should think about that.....no such thing as a mark except in the forward 50.

mmm i think the better teams in the competition play on at every opportunity anyway and manage to generate quicker scoring attempts so that short chipping is unecessary.

i watch a bit of soccer and for me it's incredibly frustrating, when the defenders keep kicking it between each other i want to pull my hair out. no doubt soccer goals are more interesting, but unfortunetly you usually only get a couple a game. i just think over the course of a full game something is always happening in aussie rules whereas in soccer there's lengthy periods of time where teams don't get a shot off

each to their own i spose.

on topic also think michael vick is one of the best, would love to see him back playing this year

Vick possibly will play in the new UFL comp starting up.

I think Goodell probably indefinitely suspends him.

yes, i sadly agree that will be Goodell's likely course of action

dissapointing, he'd be lethal in the wildcat vick. i'd love to have him in indy for 10 plays a game.

Yeah, despite the heinous animal cruelty/killings, putting all that aside, and just taking Vick as a football player/athlete, he was great to watch even tho his passing wasn't the greatest, he was good enough to be that whole dual QB-RB player that hadnt been seen for a long time before then. Never been a RB-QB before.

I agree with all the players mentioned here. I am bias but I would also have to include Dwight Freeney, for a guy with so much muscle mass to be able to run such a fast 40 and move like he does, ridiculous.

Totally agree on the Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson and Mario Williams calls. Adrian Peterson also comes to mind.

Yeah id def tell peyton to get the hell outta that offense to run some trick shit.

well considering indy's running game was a joke last year i'd say spicing things up a bit wouldn't be all bad

all vick would do is make indy more dangerous

u could even use vick and peyton on the field at the same time, vick could easily play any skill position on offence

No, honestly, Vick wouldnt improve that offense at all.

You dont run carnival offenses with a franchise pocket passing QB on your roster. Leave that for the teams which NEED to improvise.

i'd rather vick at 3rd reciever than pierre garcon, i'd also say vick would fit in nicely in a running back rotation with donald brown and joseph addai. if anything he would give indy depth, cause jim sorgi ain't gunna be winning no superbowls anytime soon.

The Colts are known for not taking guys with character issues but then again they did take Ed Johnson back.

It would be fun to see if Vick could add something to the offence but the running game will bounce back this year. Addai will be healthy (he has to be now he has some competition) and if Saturday, Lilja and Ugoh can stay healthy then then the line will hopefully get back to the run game that helped them to a Superbowl.

Anyway if Vick was to be on the roster only a coach with no brain would ever take Manning out by choice.

The other thing tho is that Vick is likely a spent force as a football player.
So he probably isnt as good anymore as what we last remember.
UFL will be fun to watch.

There were news stories saying that he was playing football in prison with the inmates. :p

I drove past his prison once last year, interesting to say the least, but no football!

I think they play a different type of "football" in prison.
There are huddles, a person 'under center' so to speak, and 'balls'.
But a completely different style of play as to what we see in the NFL, tho we did get a glimpse of it during the recent Superbowl just after Larry Fitzgerald scored a TD.

Neither is Vick.

Ive got no idea why people suddenly think hes going to be a successful running back or wide out. What indication is there that he could do either role successfully?

I was totally beside myself how Warner didn't chance his arm to Fitzgerald in the first 3 quarters ( 1 catch!!) than you see him doing the stuff he is reknown for by outjumping defenders and out-sprinting them on the home-run strike down the middle... actually, had the cards been smarter they should of eaten the clock on that go-ahead score as they did in the NFL Conf Champship vs the Eagles...

D Lebeau is genius for opening the middle for the Cards/Fitzgerald to 'buy time for Big Ben's epic Drive' :thumbsu: (mind you, a holding penalty didn't help on that first play either.. ah the drama & theatre of the NFL... something the AFL has to wait 14 weeks to achieve!!)
