Who do we promote from the rookie list?

There will be one definate promoting - Luke Weller, but I think we need another. Nick Raines should also be promoted to the senior list for next year. The others can stay on for another year.

If something happens and we lose Bradshaw, I'd like Luke Weller to play alongside Lynch next year in the forward pocket. I see Weller as the replacement for Lynch providing Lynch plays on, which he should. He'd be stupid to retire now 8 games short of 300 when he's in career best form. We may aswell try Weller. He displayed good talent across CHF this year when he played, but trying him deeper in the forward line should be something that we need to try. If it pays off, it pays off, if it doesn't, he will be a key defender.

IMO I would expect Leigh's biggest priority is keeping the likes of Shattock, Notting, then Wright, McLaren even before the likes of those players 29yrs old or older, Lynch excepted.

*Morrison is as good as gone, its just a question of to which club.
McLaren could go, as he is being eyed off.

From the rookies, I reckon expect Raines, Weller definitely. Pratt (fitness pending) , and Tandogac - what are they like?
McDonald and Shelton should stay as rookies if possible - they're both excellent players, both capable of making the senior list in 04.

Then we'll just draft.

Ron Joseph is here this week, so we'll be looking for press on Power in particular. I hope he stays.

i just dont think that Nick did enough during the year unfortunately to keep his spot on the rookie list let alone the seniors.... not that i want the boy to go

Considering that we need to extend our list by a few spots it could be a good move to re-recruite Darren Bradshaw. He was never given a chance.

Nick Raines. Not a bad player. Nice mark and kick. Got a bit of a bung knee. Seems to lack that certain something that suggests he could make the grade. Most likely to return to Southport, I'd say.

Daniel Pratt. Very impressive unit. Great hands, excellent kick, uses his strong body well. Big chance for promotion.

Luke Weller. Went OK during his brief senior stint. Lacks a yard or three but is dogged and courageous and shows quite a deal of leadership potential. 50/50 chance to be retained or upgraded.

Kevin Tandogac. Very disciplined and determined young man. Skills pretty good for a supposed 'tagger'. Will get a second year on the rookie list, if not promotion.

Paul Shelton. Genuine footballer. Not big, or strong, or lightning fast, but knows how to find the ball and use it to advantage. Was a 'new man' after a mid-season knee arthroscope. Very impressive performer in the second half of the year. Likely to be retained on the rookie list.

Joel MacDonald. Excellent season. Athletic, durable, reliable defender. Tall enough to play key position, but mobile enough to pick up a flanker as well as give some dash out of defence. Big chance for senior list.

Did you see him on Foxfooty in the SANFL GF - I reckon he would need to lose about 30kgs before he could be considered
