List of clubs that have straight setted a B2B attempt since the current final 8 system was introduced:

West Coast
Hawthorn
Melbourne

At least the other two managed multiple flags :$
1991. Can't straight set if you miss finals completely.

That's the spirit! Little League premierships should be celebrated too!

Was that before coaches existed? These little league flags dont threaten Two Flags Scott as your best ever coach? Excellent. Its not a high bar but he reached it, good for him.
Yeah cos 1930s football aint little league premierships either. :rolleyes:Your captain looks 60 years old in the photographs ffs and was a heavy smoker.

You are quite right, those are not little league, they are Big League. Some feel they were harder to win because the league didn't help out the crippled clubs with drafts and salary caps, and Stephen Dank hadn't been born yet. We don't blame you for having Dank, it was that horrible Essendon druggie that brought him to your club. Be good for the players consciences to confess though, and they must tell their doctors for the sake of their health going forward.

Are you talking about Syd Coventry (4 premierships as captain, Brownlow medalist, never ducked his head in his life) or Harry Collier (6 premierships, 2 as captain, Brownlow medalist and also never ducked his head in his life)? Both footballing Gods of course, and neither stained with ignominy like Duckwood.

I understand why you shy away from the long periods when your club was irrelevant, most bottom to middling clubs have this attitude. I for one celebrate your rare victory, as I would a Saints of Footscray flag. Up the little clubs! Victory is even sweeter for its scarcity!

No melts, its been a very lovely victory this year for the Cats and I'm happy for you.

I'm happy you got Oliver as well, a fine kid and we wanted to keep him because he may be even more talented than his brother, but it's a Good Thing brothers play together, and get to lay for their childhood club despite the silly footy socialism of the draft.

I had Scott as coach of the year, people got excited about how well McRae did with a pretty patchy list (and he did, it was a fine effort) and the Freo bloke was excellent too, but I think finishing two games clear on top puts Scott in a class of his own. The fact there were players rejected by other clubs (eg Stengle as well as rookies like Jack Henry) who now get lauded but weren't rated before is more proof, if it was needed.

It's surprising that a guy with only two flags is your best ever coach, but when success has been rare you take what you can get and he should be properly recognized.

It actually speaks volumes for how bad their competition was in 2022 that the oldest team ever fielded (and containing plodders like Guthrie, Rohan and Dangerfield) in an AFL match could walk away with the flag. Put them up against proper teams (2000 Essendon, 2014 Hawthorn, 2016 Dogs) and they'd have folded like a two dollar whore. Old man Isaac Smith was their best player FFS. Even in the prime of his career he was a just a role player at the Hawks.

Dynasty team? Far from it...just the best of a terrible bunch in 2022.

Could easily finish as low as 12th next season.
