Jokes aside its an interesting one. Obvious caveat, the Bill Walton response covers these hypotheticals (asked how the 86 Celtics would go against Jordan's Bulls he said "suit em up and go 7"). This Geelong side is the best and our machine cant beat them because they are all dead.

That said, allow the time travel: your coach is pretty good but KKKlarkson was prolly better. Neither dominant rucks, Cats with more versatility and maybe a shade more class. Hawks with substantially more dirt. How did the 14 Hawks go with Stengle type sneaks? Sydney got em in 2012 with scragging and umps, Cats dont get too much umpiring and don't scrag much. Both excellent defences.Very close, toss a coin, but Hawks more likely to back up the year after.

Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood, Richmond, Hawthorn, Melbourne have all done it, or better. You know, all the teams above Geelol on the ‘premiership ladder. Hell, Fitzroy won 4 in 8 seasons
