Mick was misunderstood and unfairly maligned at Collingwood. He became a liar devoid of all morality as soon as he signed for Carlton.

It has been interesting to see the same Carlton supporters who questioned his 1 flag in 12 years when he was at Collingwood now calling him the 'messiah'.
a lot of supporters also thought he was a good coach , and most that said that where just clutching at straws for argument sake considering we haven't won a flag in 17 years. That was probably the best insult to there coach we could make.

If any Carlton supporters did that, feel free to name and shame them.

For mine, I question the messiah complex. I believe he gets his players on the same page but he is no messiah. I did not want Ratten sacked, and did not like Malthouse's original statements about finding out if Carlton is the right fit for him. However, he has been a bit more humble since and now that the decision is made, I will support the club's decision and see what happens.

I thought he was a little odd when he was at Collingwood or West Coast. I'm not going to shy away from that. I don't have to like him, I just have to support him if he is doing the right thing by Carlton.

Malthouse at Carlton is going to be interesting. He's always been spiteful and the press conference the other day should have been a great day for Carlton but he made it inglourious.

The Cloke comment reinforces his bitterness at Collingwood & McGuire. Normally if you have clouded motivations, it tends to lead to tears. Has a strong whif of Blight at St. Kilda.

I like listening to Mick as he is confronting but the last few weeks have created some bad will against him, the appointment, speaking to coaches and denying contact was a circus. He is at the point of 'saturation'.

When the people in the room are the excrement inducing Tony Jones and the Robbo its a fair stance he maintains
Do you know Jones and Robbo personally? They must have done something terrible to you? Probably not, your just a 'tough guy' with a keyboard aren't you, you gutless little so & so. By the way Malthouse is basically a dumb twit who can't believe that people actually listen to him so he likes to act tough and come out with statements that don't mean anything,l mean what is 'it'.
He's a bully who doesn't know anything about life, and freaks out because some footy people write "Mick said this" so he feels famous.

No, the likes of Robbo and Jones trying to find point the finger regarding Ratten's sacking, instead of asking questions about his plans for Carlton, made it inglorious. I actually liked the fact that he shut them down. The piranhas called for Ratten's sacking and then act all indignant when he was. The football media have no credibility so have no right to question anybody else about credibility.

Anybody else detect the slightest amount of hypocrisy in this post?

Malthouse knew / knows the question about him talking to Carlton & when was going to be asked regardless of who asked it.

Gerald Whateley could have asked the question and he would have still gone with the vitrol.

He wasn't naive to believe the question wouldn't have been there. He chose to get on the offensive and it created badwill when it should have brought the entire club together.

You seem to have a goldfish memory.

Malthouse's temperament has never impacted his abilities as a coach. Guys like McKenna and Worsfold hold him in the absolute highest possible regard, despite him leaving the Eagles and his dropping of John in the finals.

The only games Robbo watches are via reflection from the bottom of a tilted beer glass.

As for being a dumb twit, well he is an incredibly well respected and successful "dumb twit".

This is evidenced by the amount of fear and angst he has caused Eddie over the whole coaching transition. Brilliant football mind, regardless of his short temper.

Hang on a sec ... he actually answered the question, but it wasn't the answer they wanted so they persisted. In fact, he and Carlton had answered the question prior to the press conference as well. I accept that they might not believe them, but should they just keep asking the question until the answer gets changed?

Malthouse is a good solid coach, but seriously when he gets asked to speak his mind on his opinions towards the game, his ego takes over his mind. Even while coaching he was trying to quote Churchill and trying to put it into his perspective as a football coach it almosts gets to the stage of lunacy, like a mad scientist coming up with a weird formula just to bamboozle the media into thinking he is a genius.

His record would beg to differ. Lyon is a good solid coach, Malthouse with three premierships and his record of getting teams to consistently play finals is a modern coaching champion. I would suspect he is universally respected, feared and admired amongst the coaching fraternity, likewise by players whom he has coached.

As for cranky weirdness at press conferences, well he still trails behind Sheedy in that regard.

Im upset with him, not for going to carlton but for carrying on about cloke in his press conference when he knows "his boys" who he loves so much are having a tough time as it is. They didnt need him stirring the pot.

I seriously hope he never wins a flag for carlton.I have respect for him but he really upset me this past week.

In fairness, he was asked a question about whether he wanted Travis Cloke, and his hair trigger response was 'absolutely'. The media pressed on and he played the rest with a straight bat, hadn't talked to him, appropriate time, not his responsibility ... CEO and recruiting manager deal with such things etc. The only thing he got wrong was his enthusiastic 'absolutely' but he reigned himself in very quickly. Again, the media asked the question. If he says it would be inappropriate to comment as Travis is playing finals, the media would still write the story as a yes.
