Hey all,

Bit of a dilemma here. I'm interested in buying Josh Hill as I'm sure most of you are also but there is a problem. Here is my current forward line:

-Nick Riewoldt
-Brad Johnson
-Matthew Pavlich
-Barry Hall
-Jason Porplyzia
-Alan Didak
-Cyril Rioli

Reserves:
-Ryan Gamble
-Kurt Tippet

Before this round, I was going to trade Hall for Hill (get both more money and decent score)but Hall had a good game and that's thrown my plans in to chaos. Who should I chop now?

As it stands, I'm quite happy with Porps and Didak and I don't think there is much point in chopping one youngster for another youngster (such as Rioli, Gamble or Tippet).

Hall still the likely candidate but was that game a one-off? Can Hill hold up his form? Should I trade for him or let him slide ?

Cheers for any comments.

id let him slide, unless your midfield/rucks/backs need strengthening? if so you might wanna look at gaining the cash by trading a premium, but id advise against that anyway - no point lol

Nice forward line :thumbsu:.

If i was to cut one it would be Didak based on consistancy.

Leave it as it is. It's a solid forward line - and you will undoubtedly strenghten other areas with the money.

What does having an extra rookie in your forward line gain you? Cash to upgrade your backs or mids - but is it worth having to choose 2 rookies in your forwardline every week?

Let him go and have faith in your 3 rookies you have currently.

im having the same thoughts:
Riewoldt
Brown
Franklin
Burton
Porplezia
Hall
Harding

Tippett
Rioli

Really i can trade harding, who is gonna make cash anyway, franklin, who i personally love to watch each week and therefore dont want to trade and is gonna rise, or burton, who also is gonna rise.
I think trading hill in just because he is probably gonna be the best cash cow doesnt make sense. You need to be able to fit him in. Hard to let go but i think ill hold off. You should do the same, wait for others to come along in diff positions

Jason K. Same sort of situation as me. I've come to the conclusion i'll let Hill go. It's not worth the trade, specially when you and me both have Gamble, Rioli and Tippet already in.

I agree 100%.

Also they did verse Melbourne, and his first week might have been lucky leaving Gamble and Rioli as better options! (Yes I know Rioli versed Melb as well, and Gamble will this week lol).

I have almost the exact same forward line and I would only trade in Hill if Tippett doesnt play due to injury or Gamble loses his spot because Geelong have so many goods its ridiculous. Gamble will be going up and so will Tippett. with the injuries adelaide are facing you would think tippett would play. doggies play stk this week and hill might have a bad one.

Thats a good forward line, a good mix of guns, mid priced players who are playing well, and 3 of the top 4 cash cows. as hard as it is to let hill slip, I think a trade for Hill would be a waste.

My forward line is of a similar structure;

Pav
BJ
Brown
Deledio
Burton
Porplizia
Rioli

Gamble
Tippet

The only one I was considering trading was Deledio but 90 in 3qtrs with a run in the middle this week slightly turned me off that.

I think I'm going to leave it, I think it'll end up using too many trades to be overly useful and there's no way Hill will keep up anywhere near this scoring rate (they have been involved in two shoot-outs)

Whoever had Franklin, drop him for HIll. The other forward lines look good.

I have the same situation with
Pav
BJ
Hall
Porps
Didak
Deledio
Tippett
Rioli

And I'm getting rid of DBrad

your forward line is gunning at the moment, dont worry about a trade, the only thing i'd consider is Tippet, he went down with a knee injury on sat. but he trained yesterday. if he brakes down today or tomorow and is listed OUT for 3+ weeks, i'd say yea get Hill. but if not i wouldnt bother trading.

Leave it. If I had to i would downgrade Didak to Hill because i don't rate him.

If you have the money you could trade Tippett fo Hill wait for Hill to get to say 250k trade him for a 83k rookie who is playing and use the money to upgrade a mid to a premium or a rookie to a premium.

Yeah I'll only be getting Hill if Tippett doesn't play, I'm quite content with how my bench guys are going at the minute, making me a fair bit of cash at the moment.

I have a problem in that a pre-competition brain fade caused me to select Le Cras. My forward line looks like this:

Pav
Brown
M. Stokes
T. Cloke
Porplyzia
Gamble
C. Rioli
____

Tippet
Le Cras - on the bench due to injury

Is it worth bringing J. Hill in for Le Cras, given the latter won't play for a few weeks yet, and is likely to score poorly anyway upon his return??

I understand that this will leave me with 4 rookies in my forward line, though on a positive note, they all look the goods, and the Le Cras - Hill trade will leave me with about $170k to use on some serious upgrades once a few of them appreciate...

My backline is strong, and my mids have their own rookies that will enable me to upgrade in that area...

Thoughts?

yea this is a good trade, i have robbie tarrant who is out for the year in mi bench forwards. so trading him out for Hill is a no brainer. 4 rookies is fine if they are doing the job, well if atleast 2 of them, and i rekon Ryoli and Hill will score better then half of the forwards in the AFL neway.

Thanks, appreciate the feedback. I think I will take the punt with 4 rookies and trust that at least 3 of them will perform sufficiently well to enable some future forward line upgrades.

Hmmm I also am in a similar position. Here is my forward line:

-B Johnson
-M Pavlich
-N Reiwoldt
-J Brown
-B Hall
-J Porplyzia
-C Rioli

Reserves:
-Ryan Gamble
-Kurt Tippet

I think i better just let Hill slide unless Tippet ends up being out.

Definitely get rid of Le Cras

For two reasons

1) He won't play again this year (groin surgery)
2) Even when he does play - he won't get anywhere near 50 pts per game

I have a heap of cash cows - my forward line looks like

Porpylzia
Medhurst
Hall
Didak
Thompson
Burton
Vince

Gamble
Rioli

I am happy with most of them with concerns on Vince long term and Thompson being sporadic. Thinking of outing one for Hill

That is the best forward line I have seen this year (especially after Hall's performance last week)... I hope you have balanced the rest of your team well. If so, you should do really well this year. ;)

I must admit, i've been mulling this issue over a lot myself, but I don't think I have a suitable trade to get Hill. Here's my forwardline, let me know what you think.

J Brown
Pav
Deledio
T Cloke
Porpz
Didak
Rioli

Gamble
Tippet

Other guns in side are Cox, Ablett, S Thompson (adel), Swan, Cornes.

I'm getting rid of Aaron Davey for Hill. Davey has been pathetic this year and picked up an injury in round 2. He just doesn't look interested so he must go.

Have a shit load of cash left over then and am considering upgrading Kosi to a gun - I can afford any forward in the comp with ease. Is it worth it to do this and pick up one of Jono Brown, Brad Johnson or Chappy?

yep..
tippett has hurt his knee, not sure to what extent though, so if he has been dropped swap for hill pick up at least 150K price rise. wait until he peaks sell him fro a profit and then upgrade didak for a gun in a few weeks.
