Great effort by the boys today, deserved the win but we improved by 1000% compared to the Hawks in RND1. Now lets look forward to Round3!

Who would your INS and OUTS be for the match against the crows?

OUTS

Clint Bartram: Called up to replace Spencer today but had minimal to zero impact on the game today.

INS

Colin Sylvia: Really wished we had him out there today.

Newton still a spud at AFL lever, but is a better option then Miller. Until Miller is ready he keeps his spot.

In defense of Newton, while he didn't do much statistically he had a little added responsibility that Miller didn't have.

He had to back up Jamar in the ruck for a period of time.

Also least he kicked a goal that wasn't in junk time.

:thumbsu:

For next week I'd go:

Out: Bate, Bartram

In: Sylvia, Martin

- Bate didn't look right and was poor skill-wise and Sylvia can take over his role until he gets himself right and some form to go with it.

- Bartram out as we need the back-up ruck and I'd prefer Martin backing up Jamar over Spencer every day of the week.

This is assuming Garland isn't good to go either.

Same team unless Sylvia is fit. Then drop Bate or Bartram. May have to drop both for a relief ruckman. Hate to change the team after such a performance though

In: Sylvia, Rivers, Garland*
Out: Bennell, Strauss, Bartram*

FB: Frawley Warnock Grimes
HB: MacDonald Rivers Bruce
C: Trengove Moloney Davey
HF: Bail Bate Sylvia
FF: Petterd Green Dunn
Foll: Jamar McDonald McKenzie
Int: Newton, Scully, Jones, Garland

I heard on the radio that Rivers should be right to go. Not sure about Garland. If he's not then Bartram gets a game ahead of Strauss as his defensive work is better. We need that at the moment. Strauss will get plenty more chances.

Bate gets 1 more chance for mine. Started to get into the match a little in the second half. We still lack marking targets and players who can kick. If Miller dominated/s for Casey I'd probably bring him in instead. Bail and Bennell both played as defensive forwards today, I'd stick with Bail. It's probably not his best position but he did a job for the team today, just couldn't win the game.

Newton can keep the back up ruck/forward job. If Spencer or Martin want to do it they can earn it!

I thought Batram was OK today. Stuck to his task well, just a shame Neon got away in the last quarter. Added pluck. No skills, but plenty of pluck.

Agree with thoughts on Newton. Whereas Newton is a nothing player, Miller is a negative 1 player.

If Miller dominated/s for Casey I'd probably bring him in instead.

Casey don't play till next Saturday - they had that small practise game on Thursday night.

Miller picked a bad time to get dropped, he'll be out for at least one more week.

Sylvia/Rivers in. Bartram out. And Scully? Give him a couple of weeks of senior footy away from the big lights? Just a thought.

Reward the team with something they haven't had for a long time and that's stability.
Sylvia is a walk up start, so I think he will replace Bennell.
I don't think Rivers has done a lot to warrant selection and the players in the team will know that they will have to play well to keep Rivers out of the team. I think Bartram done his job, he should be kept in the side.

I wouldn't want to mess with the team too much.

In: Sylvia
Out: Strauss/Bartram

Bennell will probably keep his spot, need a crumber. Bartram I thought was actually quite decent today but might be a last in, first out scenario.

who gets Tippett?
Have to be Warnock.

Frawley seems more comfortable on shorter, quicker opponents than the big goliaths. Interesting at no point did they move him to Cloke, preferring him to stay on Medhurst even when Cloke started to get on top of Macdonald, using Bruce instead.

In - Sylvia, Rivers.

Out - Bartram, and......? dont know. Someone has to i guess. Not with the consciences that bate and strauss should go. Not sure who else though.

I think a few posters have been a bit harsh on Bennel's performance. Loved his run and carry through the middle as well as his forwardline pressure. No doubt he needs to improve at his hardness (a couple of those mark attempts were ordinary) but I think we look much more potent when he's on the ground.

If anyone were to make way for Sylvia, I reckon Bartram has to go. But I wouldn't be entirely against sending Scully back to Casey for a bit. Too often he dropped sitters, missed targets and gave up frees with undisciplined tackles. Of course he will improve in these areas, but it just looks like he's getting himself too worked up and playing nervous footy.

Disagree on Scully, if a 2nd game player is only making mistakes cos hes "nervous" well then you just give him experience until he is not nervous, even though he made some mistakes today, some of the stuff he did was very good, he put his head over the ball prepared to be crunched repeatedly, we cant ask for more at this stage

And on the 2nd ruck option, we dont need 1 unless Jamar was to be injured in a match, and if that was the case id be happy with Newton/Dunn pinch hitting until the following week.

Just an idea, i think we should move strauss to half forward flank for a quarter just to see how he goes, because hes a good kick and thats what we need, good finishers
