Batram played on leon davis most of the game, besides that heartbreaking last goal he was excellent.

Id be dropping bate he doesn't look ready at all, barely had a pre season due to injury.

Out; Do i need to say it?
Strauss needs a rest but I'm excited about him.
Bennell needs a rest but wouldn't be suprised if he keeps his spot.
He is very good.

In; Sylvia
Maric, Martin, Rivers- depending on match ups who gets picked out
of these 3.

I agree on Bartram and that Davis goal wasn't his fault it was Warnock's. That was the story of the day really, too many critical errors that kept Collingwood in the game not to mention the worst, most biased umpiring of all time.

Bate hasn't got going yet, but when he does he is a very important player for the club, but he does have to pull his finger out though.

I would be pointing the finger at Bruce before Bate. When is the last time he has been important for the club. His strength is just getting meaningless stats. He made some horrible errors in the first quarter. He needs to lift.

In:Rivers, Garland, Sylvia
Out: Bennell, Bartram, Strauss

Found it very tough to decide who i would pick. Rivers has to come back in really missed his hight on the weekend with Joel McDonald having to play on Cloke and Grimes at times on Leigh Brown.

I would also brink Garland back if ready to counteract the tall Adelaide forward line, Tippett,Maric,Sellar,Walker, Hentchel. And also because he is such a good player deserves to be played. However if he isnt ready Strauss keeps his spot is improving week by week and his kick out to Bruce was the best kick out ive seen in the last 3 years for us.

With Bennell playing forward last week, Sylvia is a like replacement and a courageous one at that is on his day our best player so excited to watch him play.

We seem to have a large amount of mids now playing so could possibly see Scully not playing in preference of Strauss as a small defender or Spencer/Martin if we want to play 2 ruckman and put Juice forward personally would leave him as a second ruck/ forward.

The fact that i found it hard to pick this weeks team is such a positive side were slowly getting some depth back.

Give Scully much more time. Last week he was excellent. This round he went off very early in the match after being poked in the eye. Perhaps double vision contributed to some of those elementary skill errors.

IN: Sylvia (if fit) Rivers (if fit)...Would like to see Garland, Martin or Johnson possibly come in as well if they are fit

OUT:

Jones (didnt get much of it, poor disposal and gets caught too many times, iv had enough of him)

Bennell:( didnt get much of it, made a lot of mistakes and seems to be VERY scared to put his body on the line)

You're an idoit! Jones had 19 pos with 68% efficiency and was only on the ground for 68 mins. Only 6 other players had more possesions. Didn't get much of it, of what?

I think a few posters have been a bit harsh on Bennel's performance. Loved his run and carry through the middle as well as his forwardline pressure. No doubt he needs to improve at his hardness (a couple of those mark attempts were ordinary) but I think we look much more potent when he's on the ground.

If anyone were to make way for Sylvia, I reckon Bartram has to go. But I wouldn't be entirely against sending Scully back to Casey for a bit. Too often he dropped sitters, missed targets and gave up frees with undisciplined tackles. Of course he will improve in these areas, but it just looks like he's getting himself too worked up and playing nervous footy.

Agreed. I actually thought moving Bennel up forward was a very good move. His pace worried the Collingwood backs and given his chances again, he could have kicked 3 or 4 goals. With Davey in the midfield and Wona out injured, Bennel could turn out to be a handy pressure type of player we need in the F50. Once we get some structure back into our F50 with Watts and Jurrah back, I think the crumbers will be even more dangerous. Bennel stays in the side for mine...

As for changes to the side for Adelaide, very few changes needed. Reward the team on a good performance and hope they can build on it next week. If Sylvia is right to go, he must come into the side. I'd seriously look at dropping Bate to find some touch in the magoos. We need Bartram, Grimes and Strauss in the team to do a job on the small dangerous forwards of Adelaide. Dangerfield, Walker and Porplyzia need to be contained. Warnock has to go to Tippett and Frawley will take Burton. Joel Mac can probably handle Hentchell. No need to bring Rivers back after his shocker in Round 1. And also give Garland time in the reserves to prove he is 100% fit before coming into the side. Him and Rivers could be fighting for the same spot. And I don't think we need a back up ruckman either. If Jamar continues his form, he should handle the Crows ruck stocks. Let Martin and Spencer fight it out for Casey.

Adelaide's midfield and defence have troubled us in the past and we need the skipper and McKenzie to do a number on Thompson and Vince. Goodwin has always played well on us in the past, so it's important someone with defencive skills goes to him as well. Bock has run rampant on us in the past, and again, whoever plays on him can't allow his run and carry from defence. Petterd, Green, Newton will have their hands full this week with Rutten and Bock, so we need that fast ball movement into the F50 again. I'd be very tempted to bring Miller into the side just to play on Bock. At least this will free up Petterd and Green in the F50. Will be interesting to see which way Bailey goes. But we are a real chance to knock over the Crows IF we keep up the same intensity as the Collingwood game. With Adelaide 0-2 they will be as desperate as us last week, and we really have to absorb the pressure that's coming our way. We'll probably go into the game slight underdogs, but it's a genuine 50/50 match. Looking forward to it...

hahaha you think 68% efficiency is good....its supporters like this that bring the club down because their happy and content with mediocrity which probably sums up your existence of earth as well.

I wouldnt say 19 possessions is a lot and most of them were ineffective dinky kicks or misguided handballs...he only had 2 tackles in such a fiercy contested match and only 3 marks

Adelaide play a different game to Collingwood...we played them man on man and it worked as they like to spread and chip around the flanks so the pressure worked on them. The Crows play very zoned style football so we will need to adapt.

Keep Bate in, he's a crucial lead up man through the middle and if we keep hitting our targets he'll only get better.
I'd like to see Strauss play through h/b and wing rather than deep in defence, looks a bit lost there but he'll learn from it regardless.

In: Sylvia, Rivers.
Out: Bennell, Bartram.

Unfortunately for Bennell 95% of his game was fine, but you have to have a spell after that poor marking effort. Unacceptable.
Bartram was ok, but Bail could probably do his job.

Give the guy a break. There was far worse than Nathan on the weekend. Jones puts in 100% every weekend, yeah some of his kicking might not be up to scratch but it's early in the season and the guy trains bloody hard. We can't afford not to have him in our 22, who's going to get the ball. Jones is still young and IMO has a lot of talent.

The fact we do see him trying to break tackles over and over shows persistence if anything and he has improved at it. So 2 years down the track with pestistence more speed/Strength and agility he will be turning through those tackles.

Fry Bate if anyone, that guy desperately needs a break.

He needs to be VERY good - hes effectively a senior player now.

Bate and Bartram are the other options for Sylvia. But I wouldnt be making many changes this week given the application was generally good last week.

You are joking aren't you? It's got me stuffed what people see in Rivers, he hasn't had a kick for years, but that could not possibly be the reason to put Rivers in. Cloke and Brown were pathetic.

Serious?

Brown was average, but Cloke was good... and too big for Joel Mac. He took a number of contested marks. We needed Rivers.

Shoosh.

I have to say I agree with this. Been a big Rivers fan over the years, but have seen nothing in the past year or two to suggest he has a permanent spot in our best 22. I think when Garland is fully fit and ready to go, Rivers makes way. The only thing that could save Rivers is Bailey using Garland as a forward(which is possible). With Joel Mac and Frawley capable of playing as a tall or small defender, Rivers all of a sudden looks vulnerable.

Rivers has the composure and smarts that nobody else in our backline has got. He is excellent at taking the 3rd tall and peeling off to help the other 2 bigs out. He is vital to have in our team as he's prob our 5th or 6th most experienced player. Certainly in the 22

In: Sylvia, Rivers
Out: Bate, Bartram

We dropped Miller after one poor game so I see no reason to keep Bate after two. He's clearly underdone and Sylvia can do his job, and better.

Rubbish. Miller was poor last year as well. Bate was good last year. Bate has an excuse because he is underdone, Miller never has an excuse.
