Prediction Who will be better in 2025? Carlton or Hawthorn

With how even the comp has been for the last few years I can only legitimately see about 5 clubs who aren't a genuine top 4 chance.

North, Eagles, Richmond, Essendon and GC.

Think the Saints and Crows can rise. Demons whilst disappointing have proven talent.

Spots are going to be tight. Teams are going to need to ride some injury luck.

The competition is so tight that I can only confidently say two teams I think won't make the top four, Richmond and West Coast. A little luck goes a long way, having a nice fixture and facing the right teams at the right time can really change things, especially with injuries and all that. It’s tough to predict!

In 2015 Hawthorn were the oldest premiership team ever.

In 2018 WCE broke that record.

In 2022 Geelong broke it again.

Hardened, older bodies are not a liability

Quaynor > Saad - Despite being worse statistically in almost every single measure there is
Sidebottom > Acres - Same as above, Sidebottom is old and declining.
Fin Macrae + Ned Long > Matt Kennedy + Matt Owies

If they're anything to go off I think it's clear which side is bias.

And yet... Sidebottom had his 11th top 5 Best and Fairest finish in 2024 (which was his 4th consecutive top 5 finish) - whilst Acres' BEST EVER result in a B&F is 6th.
