Carracella with Ratten as Senior Assistant would be ideal.

Both been involved in a lot of success as players and coaches.

Knowing us though Ratts will take Carlton to a premiership and we'll hire Scott and be bog average for 10 years.

Whoever we get it will be a 50% either way chance of being successful- the new coach may or may not click with the necessary chemistry with the playing group to succeed. Secondly we need the club to fully get behind the new coach and give him slack as the Hawthorn hierarchy did with Clarko and all his quirks.

We've seen the demise of too many Saints coaches due to short term weak and reactive thinking by the club's various boards, but in Richo's case, just a lack of smarts and strength by the club over a few years in the guise of stability.

No need to panic boys. Journo probably heard Hinkley received a call from St. Kilda and just making the rest up.

Will just be regarding accessing Voss and / or Bassett for an interview. Need to ensure proper channels are followed and the CEO / head coach kept in the loop if we are talking to assistants.

For the record I have no interest in either. But we need to cast a wide net to begin with and let the process run its course.
