New rule this year so who do you think will be the first player to get fined?

My money is on Hayden Ballantyne.

This guy is a weed, he constantly stirs up his opponent off the ball behind play and as soon as he gets a reaction falls over as if he's been shot.

Even in contested situation he over plays the contact he gets and before you know it he's into a two and a half sumersault in the piked position.

He got his Essendon opponent reported yesterday in a weak dog act falling to the ground after a forearm "punch??" hit his own forearm at stomach level. Looked like Mike Tyson has punched him.

Ballantyne will soon be the most disliked player in the comp. The only good thing is he's on my Dream Team:D

Monfries must be a shoe in ..he has perfected the art of dropping his knees when about to be tackled and also has the tendency to throw himself forward in every contested marking contest ...expext him to be the first cited.

Brad Johnson is another who loves a good acting session.

I put him up there with Milne...

According to Brian Taylor, Jacob Surjan faked an injury and sat out the last 5 minutes of the Eagles game in order to halt the Eagles momentum, and should be investigated.

Does that count?

Nothing to see here PRG as BT is talking crap. Surjan took an unfortunate knock and had to go off. For anyone to suggest that a player would deliberatly get stretchered off the groung at that point in the game and put their team a man down is simply ludicrous.

As a WC supporter I have no issue with Surjans actions.

BT was just hyping up a cheap media stunt to big note himself.

so, let me get this right, do the players that get found guilty of diving, get suspended ,or just fined??
anyway my money is on reiwoldt, milne, even didak

LOL Divewoldt thats awesomely funny and innovative keep up the good work

and for mine I dont know about the first to go but Milnes fighting his instincts and was a tad obvious on Saturday and might get pinned at some stage I would think.

AFL have to tread carefully here.
I think it needs to be picked up on the day or post match only if a free is paid. Otherwise, i think the umps generally know when someone is faking it.

Milne on sat night flirted with it. copped a bit of contact and when he realised it could be played up, collapsed the knees and fell forward. Ump wanted nothing to do with it as i recall, so i think perhaps a stern warning would do.

Riewoldts soft little drop to the ground probably not so much. while its sad to see him resort to it given his obvious strength and talent, the free was there even if he didnt go to ground. and as much as i dont like it, it wouldnt be worthy of a fine/suspension.

It will be some no name sorta player... the AFL will be too chicken shit to fine one of their big name players like Divewoldt, Brad Johnson etc. for diving, Didak maybe being the exception there as hes already tarnished the games image before.

Well Surjan did seem quite willing and able to sing the song with the boys post game, was smiling, high fiving and didn't look at all troubled.

Port have been pretty smart though, they made him stay in Perth for another day and didn't fly home with the team. A 'strained neck' was the official word.

TBH I had my doubts when it happened, Surjan isn't to blame anyhow its the coach who ordered the stretcher on the ground and said 'use it we need a break in play'

In any case the Eagles didn't deserve to win the way they played, was the worst kicking display in AFL history.:thumbsdown::(

I recall you get fined for the first two offences if found guilty and if you get done a third time a suspension 'could' be imposed.

Regarding Ballantyne and the report he caused he will need to tread very carefully if it makes it to the tribunal. If he states he only felt slight contact but fell to the ground only to get / milk a free kick then he is basically owning up to taking a dive. If he states the contact was so severe it caused him to double over in pain and fall to the ground he is basically saying he's either a whimp or a cheat.

Not good options open to him here.;)

Are they even going to implement this rule. Riewoldt should have been done last week and now this week. Milne took a dive after his mark on Saturday night.

There are times when I think normally sane people lose any sort of grip on reality when talking football and now would be one of those times.

There is a fundamental difference between diving and accentuating contact.

No player is going to be fined for the later.

And on Roo, in both instances I bet the umpires still feel 100% vindicated in the decisions they made. Does anyone seriously think a player is going to be fined in an episode where the umpires feel it was a legitimate free kick?

When a player makes an umpire look like an idiot there will be someone fined.

I'm guessing a small forward like Milne, Didak, Johnson, etc will be the first to get done since they do it more than most and the consequences are more likely to attract attention.

Yep, and Cesc Fabregas scored a penalty for Arsenal last week whilst playing with a broken leg - must have been faking it.

And there is a big difference between what you say happened, and what did happen. Do you honestly believe that Williams would sacrifice his vice-captain and most desparate player?

I thought the match review panel will fine them if they are shown to be diving. I would love it if Riewoldt got done first to give a message that it doesn't matter who you are. My tip is a goal sneak will get done first as they are the usual suspects.

Depends which code of football we are discussing. I have barely ever seen someone take a soccer style dive with no contact during a football game. I thought by diving they meant situations like the Riewoldt one on Saturday night.

I've seen plenty of players grab their face when contact wasn't even close to their face. Brad Johnson must do that 100 times a season. Milne did one in the GF last year (1st qtr). Didak does it often too.

Not sure what games you've been watching.
