I will say no one.

At this time of the year all the teams who win (or draw) in rd 22 are hoping to make it that next step.

Cant see who would fall out next year (obviously depends on injuries)

Carlton new coach might take a while
Brisbane - maybe, but their 2 stars getting older
Essendon - injuries again?
Richmond - Richmond.
St.Kilda - Just who knows?

Adelaide - new coach might take a while
Freo - injuries again?
North - North

Could have easily substituted different examples for each of those teams...

I don't think there has been many seasons where the same top 8 has backed it up the following year. But you have a point, the top 8 this year all deserve to be there so it is hard to see. Guess injuries will have their say

Hawthorn, premiership hangover again?
Geelong get a year older, Scarlett goes along with some other older guys
Collingwood, disaster after Cloke leaves,
Adelaide, harder draw, reality check for 2nd year coach
Sydney, injuries. Goodes drops off
WCE, injuries
Freo, forget how to score
North, Harvey drops off, injuries etc etc

Nothing I'm convinced will happen, but I'm sure the 8 will change, somehow.

Do not get this. Contrary to popular belief, Boomer is not our best player.

Has there ever been any year where the top 8 was the same as the previous year?*

*Since going to a 14-team+ competition, obviously it was the same when there was only 8 teams

Gotta be the Crows, never deserved to play finals this year anyway because of out soft draw. With a harder draw next year, they'll get shown up for the pretenders they are just like they will in this year's finals.

Maybe Port will make it

Frankly, I am surprised you would be looking so far ahead, or do you see WCE going out without a yelp next week?

Brown and Black, while awesome for our side, are not our key players any more. Leuenberger and Staker come back for us next year, and another preseason under all the cub's belts. While finals are not the aim, being in contention up until the final rounds ala St.Kilda, Carlton, Richmond, should be the focus. Bring on 2013. :thumbsu:

Hawthorn - Top 4 again.
Adelaide - I think they will drop down to 5-6th. Better than some people on BF think.
Sydney - Will be there abouts again. Goodes getting on though and Reid will need to step up.
Collingwood - I think they will drop out of the top 4 if Cloke leaves. Awesome midfield but needs KPFs.
West Coast - Hopefully with Lecras and a fit Kennedy we can slip into the top 4.
Geelong - One of the most likely to drop out imo. Good youngsters but another year into the older players and no Scarlett (i know, it gets said every year).
Fremantle - Difficult team to predict. Don't think they will drop out and are a top 4 side if they can fill some holes over the offseason. Need a fit Pavlich.
North - Young team which has potential. Should be top 8 again.

Carlton - New coach and will probably bring in some new players and BF will be full of Carlton are coming threads. Impossible to predict how they will go.
Richmond - Has the potential to jump into the top 8 but needs to add more depth.
Essendon - They have shown how good they can be (early in the year). A lot will depend on how they go this offseason but another that could make the 8.

So basically i think it will be between those teams for the 8. Injuries and draw will probably be the difference between who makes it and who doesn't.

Nah I was just thinking about it when they were interviewing Johnathan brown saying they'll be pushing for the 8.

I am fairly confident we'll beat North but after that Im sure we'll go like most 5th placed sides in the past.

Be nice to make a Prelim (the best weekend of AFL of the year)

But yeah... Just a thread I thought of at the spur of the moment.

The final 8 is never the same so you can bet on there being change.
However, I don't subscribe to the theory an improving team will automatically make the 8, such as the Tiges.
They need to improve at a rate greater than those teams above them, to see an improvement in ladder positions.

I am thinking North and Geelong would be the most likely.
I think Carlton and Essendon will make the finals instead with a better run of injuries.
Freo and Adelaide to stay there.
There is honestly not too much between Adelaide, Geelong, Freo, North, St Kilda, Carlton, Essendon and Richmond so I think any of those will make the bottom half of the top 8 next year. Brisbane is also a good chance
Collingwood will be the unpredictable one. They could miss out, or win the premiership

No-one ever seems to think the Swans will make the finals and every year we make the finals so I'll get in before everyone else says the Swans won't make the finals next year and say I don't think the Swans will make the finals next year and that way we'll make the finals next year.

-Geelong might finally feel the pinch from losing a couple more veterans and have a few other drop off. Though they've defied that before. You'd be brave to write them off.
-North 8th with a soft draw this year and a dream run with injuries. Probably the most likely to drop
-Soft draw for adelaide this year too, might lose tippet...also possible.

Rest should be there abouts.

I think Geelong are more likely to be out than in.

Scarlett and Wojo likely gone. Pods, Enright, Chapman, Corey and Hunt all 30+ and close to being past it. Had a good run with injuries to key players this year as well.
