Who would Buckley prefer to coach, North or Richmond?

Interesting to note that according to the HUN, Buckley rates Richmonds youngsters better than the Roos youngsters on exposed form.

I don't think it means much in the overall scheme of things, but it doesn't hurt that a prospective coach rates your list, based on what he has seen, as better than the opposition.

I'm not sure - I suspect Buckley would probably be leaning towards North, because well, it is fair to say that North have a lot more stability going for them than Richmond at present, or at least that's the way it appears to me.

But Buckley would be a gamble for whichever club was to take him on.

In the modern era, building a team, developing young players and implementing the right strategy requires, ideally, a Mick Nunan type IMO, someone who has some experience as a teaching coach and understands the game as it is played now, who has the temperament required to ride out the initial difficulties encountered in achieving his particular vision.

That's why we're very happy at the Demons with our own choice, of course.

Hopefully Buckley does turn out to fit the bill in these areas for whichever club he ends up coaching in the future, but we don't really know that yet.

I'd have to think, going on proven coaching ability, there are definitely better candidates out there- although Buckley would bring certain advantages in terms of publicity and profile, obviously...
