Who's closer to a flag? Adelaide, Port Adelaide or Fremantle?

Who wins their next flag before the others?

Fremantle have some great youth
Dockers might finally be arriving as a contender.
Today was a comprehensive four quarter smashing of a top 8 side, and this sort of ruthlessness is a common trait shared amongst sides that win silverware.

According to Tim Gossage... West Coast are closer to a flag than Fremantle! It was after the Western Derby when he said it.
I don't pay any attention to Tim Gossage. He is actually a Saints fan by the way.

Some people follow that prediction because Fremantle has never won a flag.

Hard to predict which South Australian club will win the flag.

Nothing is certain though.

Lookin' at 3 clubs that struggled in the bottom 6 in 2020-24 in crows , hawks and kangaroos, neither of them look like winning a flag in 2 or 3 or 4 years from now.

Dockers could have a finals run like Carlton of 2009-2011 or tigers of 2013-5 in making Elim finals or 5th 8th placed finishes for 3 years in a row

North took 50 years to win their first flag.. surely Fremantle win one in the next 20 years?? They seem well run and stable these days! Hard to find anyone who supports them though.. unless of course you live in WA!

I Live in South Australia.

I even know the WA media is heavily biased towards the 🦅 eagles

lucky to get it once a month

am sure Reid will be on the back tomorrow because he is back
Surely the Dockers would be getting more press now they're top 4, while the Eagles are rubbish.
Especially after beating Sydney on the road this week to rubber stamp their credentials.

Have you lived in SA?
If so, how often do Port get the back page compared to the Crows?
If not, probably a better question for Freomaniac.

Sadly, WCEs have really dominated the paper, even when we have been winning - pretty sad when we only have one newspaper

Port and crows both equally get the Back page this season but for negative reasons.

Crows got a fair bit of back page coverage due to the 2 year extension of Matty Nicks and players under performing.

Port has mainly got back page coverage due to players like Charlie Dixon injured or Suspended and Port Board backing Ken Hinkley.

Sounds much like the Broncos who dominate the back page in QLD.
Even when they won the spoon a few years back they still dominated the headlines.

True, is it usually the Crows that dominate the back page most years though?
I know Port fans see the radio station 5AA as being wall to wall Crows coverage.
No idea about the paper though.

Hasn’t really been like that in years, port fans just love complaining about the media attention no matter the level

I think it's because they still have their mentality from the SANFL days, where they were a big fish in the small pond of SA.
They seem to complain about the AFL media not caring about them enough.

David Koch has stated that Port are a little battler club in the AFL, hence why Port fans harbour a dislike towards him.
Western Bulldogs are acknowledged far and wide as a little battler club, and Port would be around their level when it comes to size and relevance in the AFL.

By any metric (other than an a google search trend where the general term 'western bulldogs' is searched compared to the specific term 'port adelaide football club') Port are a bigger club than the Western Bulldogs. Bigger than any of the 4 smallest Vic clubs at the very minimum and debatably as big or bigger than the mid tier ones.
