Menadue is uncontracted, while Markov just recently signed a 2 year deal. Unless a trade can be facilitated, Markov will not be delisted. Menadue will sign a 1 year deal if we can’t facilitate a trade for him.

Markov (Trade/Keep)
Menadue (Trade/Keep)
Butler (Trade/Keep)
Ellis (FA/Keep)
Grigg (Retire)
Weller (Delist)
Townsend(Delist)
Aarts (Delist)
Miller (Delist)
Chol (Re-rookie)
Moore (Re-rookie/Trade)

Stack (Upgrade)
Baker (Upgrade)

I also think there will be a shock to us all in regards to trades. Someone we weren’t expected to depart. E.g Bolton, Astbury ect.

Club won't delist Miller. Still has plenty of upside and needs time.

Retired: Grigg, replaced on list by Pickett
Free agent: Ellis(?). I think we lowball him. He's on 500k or more, will need to take a pay cut to stay.
Trade: Moore, Short.
Delist: Weller, Townsend, Aarts.

Not too many changes, we've turned over the list quite a bit in the last two years and have a Stack (eh! eh!) of young talent.

Butler is only 22. Younger than Jayden Short who will be playing reserves if he remains on the list.

Would be a good asset to keep

Agreed.

Not many players with his pace. I’m sure the club really rates him which is why they played him first up coming of injury the previous year.

All I was saying is that if he falls down the pecking order then he may become restless and look for other opportunities.

I have always rated him above George, but geez George has really lifted lately he’s kicking the last few games has been un-George like (hope it becomes the norm).

I really wonder if we'll trade a couple of quality guys that we have extra cover for. Butler, BEllis whatever. We can cover for them and we'd get a good return in trades.

Otherwise we have too many AFL quality players trying to fit into 22. Some of the kids might want to leave for opportunity, we'd get little in return and maybe reduce the quality of the list.

Amazing problem to have. No way I would have foreseen this a few years ago.

Looking at these options, geez our recruiting has improved in recent years!!!:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

The VFL team is so strong it is difficult to delist players.
Grigg (retire) Weller (delist).
I cannot think of anyone else ATM.
In 2020, if they do not improve, Chol, Markov, can be delisted or traded.
I think the following is a list of players out of contract at seasons end.
Ellis, Grigg, Houli, Astbury, Townsend, Weller, Butler, Menadue, Moore, Chol Kmac, Egg Sheds, George, Miller Soldo, Stack, Naish, Baker Aarts, Picket
I'd retain the names in bold

Why would people be saying Townsend’s time is up?

Yeah, I would be hesitant letting Towner go unless he wanted to.

Towner is here as a rookie so he is not costing the farm.

He is still young enough as fits into our window forecast and is age is at the right peak.

Versatility wise he can play a number of roles and is a little unique and complements other players.

We have a heap of smalls, quicker lighter types to, a few bigs but not many like Towner. If Caddy get injured Towner could replace and other injuries could occur where Towner provides the glue to help us win the premiership in terms of offering the complimentary synergy to provide the desired output. As well he is handy and can help others in the twos.

I am assuming he is still tough, tackles and is a dead eye dick for goal when it counts.

We need moneybag options as well because our TPP levels are getting pretty tight to

Townsend seems to be improving too.

Thats good to hear.

I could see a situation where Townsend gets called up to the firsts.

The thing is we are a little light on inside as well as medium forwards still.

Townsend is only 25. While you don't want to wish these things the facts are Cotch is 29 and Dusty 27 and as we get older injuries have a habit of creeping in. Ross looks good but is still developing in terms of his full role rotations as well as enhancing his full contribution at the level. RCD is also developing but he may play other roles. Balta is developing to but he is a bit of a different freak and Townsend could compliment someone like Balta who I think could be ruck/ruck rover/centre/forward/wing/back in terms of match versatility. JR is 30 to and although Lynch Balta can assist if Caddy gets injured to, apart from Moore, we are left with a bunch of smalls apart from our ruck hybrids. Dusty obviously can go forward to but you do not want Dusty to do everything especially when trying to win a premiership

Delist: Townsend. Menadue. Solid. Weller. I personally would dangle Castagna to see if any takers. Maybe Carlton? Rookie miller. Sign up stack for 3 years. Maybe even trade jack graham??? Adelaide might give up overs???

Out of contract Main list
keep
Ellis, (but don't match offers)
Houli,
Astbury,
Kmac, Sheds,
Soldo, Naish,
Miller ?? (not sure)

Rookie list upgrade
Stack Baker
Retain on rookie list
Chol, Pickett Egg
Delisted
Grigg, Moore Butler, Menadue, Towno
Off rookie list
Weller, Aarts
After the Cats game. Move Townsend on too

Our defence is fine with all our players back, Really just need another developing tall player but if a good young KPD is to become available at a 'chep ish' pick then grab him.

Our Foward line is also great and will function much better when jack is back and caddy is the 3rd tall and less emphasis on Lynch as well as Lynch having time to adapt.

Rucks , Nank gets the job done and now with Balta he has his side kick that can give him a rest and have a viable option

Midfield - This is where our main issue's are
We really dont have the player like Cripps,Neal,Kennedy that continue's to get the ball 30+ time week in week out
Cotchin,Martin,Prestia are players that can do it but dont do it every week in the middle

Ross looks good but is young and RCD looks a way off still , We need a plug and play

Delist:

Chol
Moore
Townsend
Weller

Trade Table:

Bolton
Broad
Butler
Menadue

Free Agency:

Astbury - should re-sign for another 2 years.

Edwards - expect him to go onto the rolling 1 year deals that Houli/Grigg have been on in recent time. Wouldn't be shocked to see him get 2 years either

Ellis - let him walk for anything that nets us a pick between our first and second round pick, especially if the piss up in Mildura stories are true.

Houli - 1 year deal with a 1 year option based on games played in 2020

The Rest:

Aarts - expect he remains on the rookie list as it's clear they rate him highly

Baker - should be elevated to the senior list at seasons end as his performances are becoming quite consistent.

Egg-Smith - is starting to show real talent at VFL level and could be a longer term option to replace Houli, could be a fascinating pairing with Stack on the other HBF.

McIntosh - 2-3 years would be a well earned reward

Naish - 2 years at minimum

Pickett - if he shows the same commitment that Stack showed when he arrived then keep him around.

Soldo - could be our version of Nank at the Swans, young ruck who gets a crack due to injury but forced out when the number 1 returns. May gain interest from opposition clubs if he holds his own the next 6-8 weeks. With CCJ in the wings we may look to cash in if the deal is right.

Stack - a no brainer to be retained, question is whether it's as a rookie or we put him on the main list. Odds would suggest main list with a 2 year deal. Fingers crossed we don't get a Tim Kelly situation unfold as both WA clubs could look to lure him home with a bigger payday than what we can do.[/QUOTE]
