If you are who you say you are... Will Leppa be completing a succession plan with Craig?

I don't have 'sources' who work with Brisbane.

I won't guess either, you would agree they're enough flogs on the net who pretend they know what they're on about.

Might I just add, for those who are skeptical, I broke the story of Reece Conca signing the day before, and the terms of the contract too.

I don't want the club to select Leppa because of his history with the club. If he is the best coach out of Simpson and Tudor then he should be the coach.

The fact that Simpson and Tudor have finals experience working alongside
two great coaches should be considered as the two front runners, due to the fact they both are involved with premiership winning teams.

I think we need to be aware that Leppa's knowledge of the stakeholders up here is likely to come into play as a factor. Not THE factor, and probably not anywhere close to a major factor, but we shouldn't be ignoring the fact that all candidates will be assessed to a degree on their suitability to play to the market in Brisbane.

I am happy with Leppa if that is the decision.

One thing I think he has going for him is a personality.. I know that is not overly important when coaching the team, but if he has the goods there as a coach, then his personality will be a huge plus for us in the Queensland market.

Anyone who has spent more than 2 minutes with Justin knows the man has a wicked sense of humour and he will be a great media performer as well, and we need that. he will be competing against the RL coaches for airtime, and I think he will do well in that area.

I will certainly renew my coaches club membership, will be a great night:thumbsu:

Would be very happy with any one of Leppa, Simpson or Tudor. The fact that one if a premiership hero at our club is slightly more appealing though, would be amazing if he could lead us into finals next year :thumbsu:

How come Brisbane aren't looking at ratten and Williams even more Williams to get Martin!

Appointing a coach on the basis of improving your chances of gaining a player doesn't sound like good policy to me.

Like buying a car to get the free steak knives.

Who says we want Martin anyway?

Once we appoint the senior coach, he will automatically dismiss the assistants, we need a complete new set of eyes to run over our playing list. It will also get everyone on our list back to square one, any issues regarding perceived favourites, grudges or animosity will quickly disappear and hope will be restored to start our pre season. I would expect a complete turnover!

I wouldn't be surprised to see GOD remain as Leppa knows him from his playing days and it would provide some continuity to the past. Not sure about the others and it looks like Manny Lynch needs to be moved on, if the whispering around club treatment of youngsters is to be believed.

My understanding is that there will be an announcement after the completion of mediation at the AFL tomorrow. (Let's hope that is just hour upon hour of the AFL and Leigh sitting in a room saying "No, you really should step aside Angus")
Tuesday evening, Wednesday or Thursday AM at the latest

Been told Simpson is disappointed/frustrated/bemused at the way the process has unfolded fwiw

Be interesting to know more details.

I can't imagine he'd be thrilled at having to travel to Brisbane twice in two weeks in the middle of a finals series.

Apparently he had basically ruled himself out after the first interview

Call it 'the vibe' if you will (could be any of player exodus, board instability, inability of the people on the coaching selection committee to give concrete answers to any of his questions- you know, 'the vibe'

Was convinced to have a second interview

I haven't heard any different :D

God knows what might occur over the next 24-72 hours though

I have heard the exact same thing. Not from Simpson however, just the general lack of clarity. There's not real direction with this coaching decision, from what I've heard, it's like a 21st party quickly put together in a few days.

Thankfully for the Lions, they've got some great candidates and it really is up to the board and the club in general to make sure the new coach has the right support and structure in place to succeed because the list is in good nick.

Leppa has been great with Richmond, keeping them informed with whatever information comes his way by the Brisbane board, we know he's gone and it's given the tiges time to find a replacement however, if the news doesn't come out soon (of Leppa's appointment), you never know what strange turn of events could occur. The Tigers will happily hold onto him if Brisbane break their word. Let's put it that way.

Won't say anymore..

Must have been unaware how we go about things up here. Some people just can't handle those levels of thoroughosity and robustitude.

Seriously it's a pity. I was a big fan of Simpson as a player. I hope the club asks for feedback from the applicants as to what they're impressions were/are of the process and the club as a whole. But you know the saying: "Don't ask for bad news if you don't want to hear any..."

I expect the complete opposite. I think very little changes will be made to the coaches box outside of Voss/Harvey replacements. We might add 1 extra assistant, but I don't think there will be a clean out this year. If expect a few changes next year as Leppa starts to mold the coaches box how he wants it, first season he will be settling into his new senior coaches chair before he looks to changes others.

Personally, if the decision is made, I think they need to announce him this morning. Then set up meetings with Yeo, Docherty, Longer and Polec this arvo. waiting another 24 to 72 hours could be the difference between being able to maybe retain 1 or 2 of these players. We need stability on field right now, and Johnson waiting for the mediation is another example of putting his election campaign before the club.

Unfortunately all 5, when you factor in Karnezis are gone :(.....let's hope the club realises how big a kick in the guts this actually is and coupled with the goings on this year, formally begins an investigation (must be independent) into every single department within the Brisbane Lions :thumbsu:
