We are down here ceebee.

Did you see Before the Game on 10 earlier? I can't stand anyone on that show, but they were even taking the piss out of us, which you couldn't really disagree with. For Angus' sake, I hope he didn't watch it, they really took the piss out of him, which even I found funny. But as you alluded MacMum, it is so disheartening and in some respects, humiliating.

I take it, it was the Angus lead fraction that got the knock back from Darcy. If that is the case then if it wasn't before it is definitely time for them to pull up stumps. Firstly for asking Darcy (he can just stay right away from our club) and secondly getting a knock back from him. That is just down right embarrassing. Gee who are they going to ask next.....Eddie?

Not sure if Harvey has announced his intentions for next year or not, but had Voss been retained for next year, were his intentions to stay on in Brisbane or return back to Perth to be with his family?

Outside of Roos, I am really struggling coming to terms with whoever the replacement may be; particularly if it is a Ayres, Craig, Williams or some other inexperienced coach, noting that I do not see guys like Clarkson and Worsfold as realistic options.. I've always liked Harvey and failing us acquiring Roos, Harvey is one of the only guy's I foresee that I would be happy with, hence my disappointment in him ruling himself out of the job.

Looks like I am going to be bitterly disappointed whoever it is we name.

Was secretly hoping that too. I guess it doesn't feel that good that the board/club consider you a fallback option if a bid for someone else fails. Hold nothing against Harvey for not willing to take the senior job, but I wish he does take it up. Ross Lyon has got a lot of credit for the list that Harvey had built over at Fremantle, not unlike the situation about to take place here.

Considering Harvey has already ruled himself out for another possible head coaching job next season, I don't think it has much to do with the board.

Anyone but roos will be a disappointment and there isn't much out there as a back up. Maybe chocko Williams at a stretch. Lets hope Mathews gets in as quick as possible and bends roos arm

Maybe they'll have to look at some sort of deal where somebody coaches for a season until Roos takes over in 2015. Maybe Woewodin coaches next year while Roos consults and in 2015 Roos takes over and Woewodin goes back to being an assistant.

Total balls up, Voss should have been left til the end of the season, and the board should have had a replacement locked and loaded before moving on Voss. We went from a stable team with a coach and bright future to a coach less club who can't find a replacement and a board too busy with their own agendas to care.

Angus needs to step down before te end of the season so we can get Lethal in there, bring some stability back and start work on finding a coach. This is why you MUST ALWAYS have a board member with a footy background involved. This kind of crap rips a club apart. Doesn't matter what else the board accomplished over the past few years, this mistake is massive and they need to go for it.

If we get Angus Johnson to coach, it gets him off the board.

Just don't get him to run a supplements program.

That is clearly the area where you really don't want poor governance.

"We're going to wait until the end of the season."

*three weeks to go*

"We're not going to wait until the end of the season to review whether to renew Voss."

*at the actual end of the season, we beat Geelong for a second time this year and make the finals*

"Derp."

We don't have many options. Roos doesn't want the job and Harvey also wants to get out of here. He does not want a senior position. Will be interesting to see who gets the job now. It will probably end up being someone worse then Voss. :(

Just suck it up rehire Voss and put Mathews on the board. Voss was doing a good job in developing this list. Mathews and Voss in, Angus and his two amigos out, that's a win for us out of this situation. Voss should still be coaching us damn it!

I have been thinking along the lines ever since this news broke out that Matthews and Co. are challenging the board that as much as I love Vossy and disagreed with his sacking, I think now it is done, it is best left in the past. If however, the Lions can not get Roos, Williams or Eade, my 3 preferred options, I would rather Voss come back then anyone else become the new coach.

Crazy clutching at straws stuff here but if the argument is that the Williams/Power combo agreed to sack Voss, they should tell him it was because Angus lied to convince them. Don't care if they have to lie, whatever it takes. New board, new faith in Voss. "We didn't mean it". "Angus made us do it".
Pipedreams.:(

Just wondering - how can you tell if a coach is not up to taking them to the next level until they have tried to take them there and failed?
It's all BS mate. They've obviously thought they had Roos in the bag but fluffed it.

Woewodin cannot string enough words together to make a sentence.

The most likely scenario.

Either Roos expressed lukewarm interest and they took that as "I accept", or they just outright punted on him.

Either way, a totally unprofessional and shambolic performance.
