I dont understand why such a great club, celebrating 140 years of history is out of the eight.

Statistically they should be playing finals this year. Afterall,

They have three guys in the tiop 20 for contested possies. No other club has that amount of players in the top 20. Not even Geelong. Contested Football is what wins you matches.

All of their midfielders have improved since last year. Pearce Dom Kane Rodan Salopek and Boak have all increased their numbers since 2009. Heck it seems Pearce can even play football with an opponent now.

They are third in tackles. Which again is an indication of a sides ability to get the ball back. Even Justin Westhoff has learnt to tackle.

They have Jay Schulz. One of the most accruate kicks for goal in the league, a strong overhead mark, and of course well known for being the best key forward in the comp.

Chappy Carlile and now Nick Salter are three of the better big defenders in the league. Add to that the gun player Paul Stewart, their defence is looking good.

Dean Brogan is in the top four for hitouts in the league. So even him getting older is not an issue.

Everything points towards them being in the top eight. Surely it must be so. But it isnt. Why not? Afterall we are being told how good this Port squad is, why are they not in the 8. Nor have been for three years now.

anyway we're out of the 8 coz we haven't had it all together except in patches. that's painfully evident. but unlike yourselves the key parts for the next few years are all there and will all still be here next year.
