Oh new reason to hate Hird (actually rehashed)

James in the HS
“There are certainly some people within the AFL industry that I have no time for — who I think are ordinary individuals and don’t speak the truth."

But he would have time for them if they did the dodgy deal and offered the players no penalty through the no fault clause and it went through... Complaining about the interference when he would have been fully complicit if it went his way.

He only stood up "to do the right thing" when he could not do the wrong thing. Why did he not tell the AFL day one stay out of it lets follow due process...on Day 1?

One person in the AFL industry thinks they're bigger than the game...

The prudent thing was always to do the plea deal Cronulla style. Get in quick. Cop 12 weeks. Write off 2013 and get a top 3 draft pick and then re-load in 2014. But oooooohhhhhh no. Not these campaigners.
But that would have meant an admission and Hird copping a whack. Hird would much, much rather destroy the careers of any number of people, including close family friends and young men in his charge than take responsibility for his own actions.

The AFL is full of very 'ordinary individuals' says the altogether 'extra-ordinary' Alberto_O....Is there no end to this bloke's flog-dom?
I guess being twice guilty of bringing the game into disrepute is extraordinary!

Hird may be a flog but reckon tbere is some element of truth in his statement. There are some utter crooks at AFL house, thankfully the biggest one pissed off last year

We need to start a new thread on the 'Cult of Albert' run along much the same lines as 'The Cult of Robbo'....Too much gold to ignore there.
Hirdy's the man who put the mess in messiah!

His protege would be similar. I would imagine in almost all sports, the governing bodies are a bit shady. Maybe that's what is required to keep the game running. Deals with betting agencies to reduce betting corruption / black market activity (though whether it really does is anyones guess). Deals with government and "governing" bodies including police to capture and deal with player follies to keep it out of the media, and deals with the media to keep them quiet about things.

It's all one big snout trough, and about who gets paid the most. (PS - no sarcasm).
