Why do you support your chosen teams?

Barracked for Carlton as a young person - mainly because my Dad supported Collingwood (while he worked for the beer company that sponsored them. Then he took up the State Manager role at CUB, so he switched teams.). Met my hubby who was South Aussie and he also followedCarlton because of Naley, Sticks and Braddles. Also because he supported South Adelaide and played Colts. His family all barracked for North.

Adelaide Crows both men and women: We both switched to them when they came into the comp and have never looked back.

SAN Francisco 49ers because we lived in the Bay Area.

Toronto Blue Jays because we lived in Toronto.

Orlando Magic because they are the team we’ve seen play the most.

Interesting that main reasons for following a team seem to be:

* Going along with who parents followed (blood thicker than water)

* Supporting the home team (eat at home)

* Supporting the underdog (masochists)

* Liking team colours (fashionistas)

* Liking a particular player (hero worhippers)

Adelaide Crows - Jumped on board when they were first announced and have been a member since 1991. I used to originally go with my mother until she passed away in 2005 and now I take my son (who's now 18).

Utah Jazz - Around 8 years ago I started playing NB2k and in the career mode I was drafted to Utah. After playing it for a while I got to know their players and started following their actual games and stats and they ended up becoming the team I support in the NBA.

SF 49ers - Back in the Don Lane days on the ABC I started following the NFL when I was in high school, one of the first games I ever watched was the 1991 NFC Championship game where the 49ers lost the game after a fumble and I felt sorry for them because they should have won the game. I started following them the next year hoping they could make up for it and have been following them ever since.
