Thus Carey warms the cockles of many a heart!I don't mind BT. Its Wayne Carey who I can't stand.
I can understand that some commentators will have favourites, whilst others will despise other teams but you expect all to be professional regardless. I continually notice Wayne Carey's hatred for the Collingwood FC in every broadcast I watch. Yesterday was as evident as ever and just one example was the Blair free kick where he actually disputed it, because the crowd wasn't happy with the call, and BT actually put him in his place and said, its clear as day light the free kick is there regardless of what the crowd thought of it. He also seems to go quieter whenever Collingwood is up and about, as was the case yesterday, and I have noticed in the past this season too.
It clearly isn't hard to dislike someone of his character, but he sure makes it easy with his commentating during Collingwood games.
very appropriate adjectiveHe'd be good in special comments in how he understands the game, but, as a primary caller forget it.

would appreciate if he stopped shouting at me the whole time.
That's why people don't like him, he stands out from the crowd (on C7)
It’s a good thing to know your football. In fact, it is so much better than being ignorant, but unfortunately, many fans allow the general abrasiveness of their personality to shine through more that they are ever prepared to admit. It's an emotional game and the know it all fan lives for confrontation, they know more than the players, coaches or commentators. Or so they think. You will almost certainly sit next to someone like this at the game several times each year, if you're lucky they are the stay at home type of fan screaming at the TV, calling the Umpire a dickhead, telling the coach he's an idiot and the players are morons. The commentators are all fools and this fan honestly believes he could do a better job of calling the game. Well golly gee, whoa, if you don't mind, i'm not sure how many of us on here have played 140 games and kicked 527 goals in our career! Taylor is what you call a "colour" commentator, like Rex Hunt before him he will be open to more criticism than most.
You can't complain about AFL commentators once you listen to Greg Alexander commentate NRL on Fox. He makes no effort to hide his seething hatred for Parramatta.
What a totally intellectually dishonest way of framing the question in the OP. There's a difference between being enthusiastic, and being a hyperbolic over the top moron with a terrible understanding of the modern game, a poor knowledge of players, especially players from interstate teams, and being prone to histrionics at the drop of a hat. He's an embarrassment, from his poor sense of humour, his poor game sense, and his utterly nonsensical ranting. He's unprofessional and just flat-out irritating.
