Why is white still used as the clash colour?

I'm not saying don't look for a solution. I'm just saying I don't give a shit how other sports do it. We need to find our own solution that caters to the elements supporters love about their clubs and our code. No point saying "well ManU don't give a stuff, why should you".
Good Business is to scope other similar industry's and see how they solved a problem if it is similar to yours. I'm not saying we just copy them but to not see what other codes have done is short sighted. Our principles need to be overlayed ontop of these but if our culture says two old school teams have to wear clashing jumpers on GF day, we need to start to chip away at the culture.

I have seen what other codes have done. I think we all have by now. Good for them, but it's not for me. I don't like it one bit and hence, don't give a crap about what jumper ManU decide to wear on any given day. The fact soccer do what they do is not a compelling argument for me. In fact, I find a jumper clash more appealing than that alternative. For me there are core values in the culture of footy jumpers that are obviously not present in some other sports. I don't want to abandon that just because someone else is doing it differently.

Yeah I don't like how the point posts at Adelaide turned from red to white either, just because the tossers at the VFL do things a certain way didn't mean they had to destroy the core values in the culture of South Ausrtralian footy. I don't want to abandon that just because someone else is doing it differently.

Yeah. That makes a whole lot of sense. I bet they branded the game heavily around those point posts and sung about them at games end  o_O

Gillon really needs to slap his nuts on the table and actually make a ruling on this.

Essendon have always played with a red sash/Collingwood are white with black (or black with white depending on what battle Eddie is fighting) etc.

Who f'ng cares?

Clubs should have the right to wear their home jumper at home, and they should be able to do that without any threat of a clash.

If that means Essendon wears a black sash, or a red sash on white, and that Collingwood lose their stripes - so be it.

This is the way that the world is going. TVs are getting bigger and eyesight is getting worse.

This archaic tradition has been allowed to fester because nobody has taken action on it.

Move on people!

The problems with uniform clashes are so easy to fix.

1. Colour on front of jumper needs to match colour on the back.

2. Every team needs a home jumper which is darker and an away jumper which is light.

3. The shorts should match the jumper and not an ancient rule regarding "white shorts for away regardless of what the home team is wearing".

It's just madness. Clubs have very effective training jumpers that they use in off season practice matches. When you think purely about the function (ie to differentiate the teams) and ignore the other crap (tradition, historical rules, sponsorship demands and Eddie) you get a very simple answer to a very simple problem.

white shorts when white is not a dominant colour on the jumper is so moronic, and honestly makes us look like such an amateur sport.
the idea of solving a clash problem by introducing another block of colour... really?

it's not hard: shorts should match the jumper + everything should look the same front, back and side on (NO side panels). light version and a dark version. done.
