Will a Geelong-Sydney Grand Final happen in 2024? What is the most likely matchup?

Also I want a Sydney/Geelong Grand Final about as much as I want a doctor to give me a prostate exam with his hand covered in hot sauce.
The game would be over at QT but in Sydney's favour this time. Surely getting sweet revenge would be better? By the time we got our act together in finals Richmond were already a basket case again. And with Hawthorn we bundled our chance in the 2013 prelim (2016 only sort of counts as both teams were average).

Sydney's first quarters are poor to say the least. Yes we come back, but I worry that falling 30 points down at quarter time in a Grand Final would be harder to pull back than a regular season game.

Fair enough. I think by finals time Sydney will have rectified their first quarters. They aren't going to start complacent in that situation.

Long way to go and anything can happen but the tears of hatred make it even sweeter. The reason both sides are hated? Success and building strong clubs and cultures.

I admire Geelong as a footy club for the above reasons. If Sydney aren't there or can't win it, I hope Geelong can do so.

Looking more and more likely every week.

Despite being only 2 seasons ago there would be not only substantial changes to both sides but also the roles of those players.

QF1: SYDNEY v GWS
QF2: GEELONG v Port Adelaide
EF1: BRISBANE LIONS v Carlton
EF2: Western Bulldogs v HAWTHORN

SF1: GWS v Brisbane Lions
SF2: Port Adelaide v HAWTHORN

PF1: SYDNEY v Hawthorn
PF2: GEELONG v GWS

GF: Sydney v GEELONG

There is a mathematical chance this happens if Geelong beats WC by 10+ goals than GWS and Port lose their matches

My prediction is now a Sydney vs Bulldogs gf, 2016 rematch, Sydney's chance to revenge and redemption after 3 straight grand final defeats, Bulldogs chance to get no 3. Be some interesting narratives if it happens.

Swans have a good change of avenging 2016 or 2022. 2016 Dogs won (thanks to bad umpiring) and Trump became President over a female Democratic candidate

Yeah its a double edged sword. They'd love the chance at revenge, but yet another loss to the same sides that beat them would be so demoralising.

As long as Geelongs not there the gf will be a good matchup.

We'd need to win by more like 20+ goals.
