With proven skill at this requirement the obvious will surely occur by the competions most well known cheats.

Lose against Adelaide next week, fall to 6th and play Brisbane 7th in Melbourne in the first week of finals.

Becasue if they beat Adelaide, they will play us or the Bummers in the first week in Melbourne.

Look for a massive amount of niggling one week injuries, and Fevola sitting in the pocket reading Alexs' grade 3 photo book, becasue they will not want to win:thumbsdown:

Adelaide is good betting for next week, get your money on them Noosa!

Not really...

A win by the Lions would see them win the home final. Granted that they have to play in Sydney - but it's a pretty big incentive. As a bonus this match is after the Carlton one.

Carlton can't afford to take the risk.

I would rather be playing against Carltank at the G than Adelaide at Footy Park so I'm hoping like hell they win.

Would mean all finals we play will be in Melbourne.

Carlton at the G
Doggies at the G
Cats at the G
Saints in the Big One (Where Z.Dawson has 11 goals kicked on him by Buddy)

But can they overcome their natural instinct to tank?

Bit like asking a chronic Tourette's sufferer to 'mind the language'.

Very interesting question Big R.

Something worth mentioning is that if we do happen to end up in the eight...
Is that it's not unfeasible that we'd play the Bulldogs in the first final...

If they lose to the pies by more than a few goals they could easily be leapfrogged by the winner if the Carlton vs Adelaide match, leaving them in 5th spot.

To be honest I'd rather play the Bulldogs in Melbourne than Adelaide in Adelaide. (I'd rather play Carlton above any of those...)

Obviously, last time didn't go so well... But finals are a different beast and I'm sure we all remember what happened the last time we played the Dogs in September. I know, different time, different teams... But still...

A difference of 7% equates to around 150 point combined margins...

Why? No need to given either of the 2 sides that might limp into 8th.

And who could forget the nail-biting end to 2007, where Carlton's priority pick went down to the wire with the magpies?

With scores level deep in time on, the Carlton coach pulled the tank-winning move by taking Fev off. The maggies went on to win but Carlton won with Matty Kreuzer.

This, of course, was the tank that ensured Carlton's historic 3-peat of tanks.

Playing Essendon or the Hawks is by far the best outcome for us.

Both sides stink and we are flying, Hawks without Da Rough atm are probably on form the 10th best side and the dons about the same.

I am glad the swans are out of the race as they would be tougher, even though we did beat them by 10 goals last start ROFL.

My major focus is week 2 of the finals

I can recall us beating a certain side by 11 goals last start, "ROFL".
Won't matter anyway, Adelaide will unfortunately beat Carlton on Sunday. Here's to a ripper game Hawkers, and let's hope that whichever one of us makes it gets the chance to tear Carlton a new one. :thumbsu:

True Boyler room.

There was the fabled 3-peat of tanks that ended in the cliff-hanger of 2007.

What people forget is they had another 'tank' snatched from their grasp from a vengeful AFL back in 2002 for systematic cheating of the salary cap.
