The consensus being that if he leaves Hawthorn it will be to return to South Australia.

However, is there anybody that could comfortably say that Port or Adelaide look primed for immediate success?

The Crows and Hawks are practically the Spiderman point meme at this stage in their rebuilds, and Port are either winning this year's flag or getting a new coach, so their future is completely up in the air.

From what we know about Will's development as a footballer and how popular he is within the playing group, I'd be be stunned if he left.
Consensus formed from who's opinion?

whos to say that is not a s**t decision, he be working with clarkson who has proven as one of the best.
yeah, but he has gone home which he wanted and gets to be in a midfield with Wines, Butters, Rozee and Boak - not bad guys to learn your craft around

The big query is Ken and his coaching staff...but onfield mentoring by those mentioned will help mitigate against that

Sam Mitchell has chosen a good old fashioned ground zero rebuild.

The Hawks are as far away from a flag as a club could be so requires young drafted players to be happy to take the extra cash they couldn’t get at a stronger club and the patience to accept half their career is likely to be spent no contending.

Yeah, the Hawks seem like the Crows three years ago or NM two years ago.

Our best 22 isn't as young as everybody would like to believe it is. We'll be far more competitive this season than most outside the club would expect.

For context, a best 22 I completed for round 1 (minus Mitch Lewis) contained 13 players 23 years of age or older. 23 year olds entering their 6th year in the system and the prime of their career.

It's still a young side, but it isn't expansion-side young like people were hilariously trying to announce after last year's trade period.

Really liked him in his draft year. We've got bucket loads of half backs though so not really a need. Is he going to be half back long term?
Been training as a mid over preseason. He goes well in there he bumps up his contract

Eh they have pushed out a lot of mature talent but this is not year 1 of the rebuild.

They have a decent crop of young prospects already at the club, I would argue they are closer to building a closer to potentially building a contender than some clubs with ‘better’ lists.

Hawthorn would get stiffed in any deal, not delivered on field to the same level of player as what most Hawks describe him as.

Mid second rounder value.
Cute
Even though this a formality that he will re-sign

If you actually truly believe that
You have no idea about football and you should return to the Youth conversation talking about how good TT is

People declaring a players value before the season seems just sliiiiiiiiiiiightly premature. If he were to leave his season will have a big impact on his value.

He is undoubtedly talented but hasn’t strung together consistent games. If that continues you are probably right he is worth somewhere in the second round. As we have an entire season to play out though I will wait and see before stressing about getting stiffed in any deals

AFL careers are short and the Hawks are years away from contending so Day faces an interesting decision.
Kids from developing teams can normally get a bit of a juicier contract though as there's less cap pressure, the Hawks could probably afford to pay overs for him. The extra cash plus existing ties might be enough to keep him, especially if he buys in to a journey

Of course I am purely basing this only on work to date.

If he has a breakout season, things change.

Has had some bad luck with concussions and bother niggles. Hawks have the cash to splash so you’d assume it’s a no brainer 3 year deal if he performs this year.
