Wasn't he the sub a lot early on?

Started sub six times in his first four seasons, in which he played a total of 50 games.

Subbed out on five occasions in that same period.

He wasn't a sub in NEAFL for last 2 seasons and averaged less than 20 touches a games in a sub standard statewide competition.
I don't think you can argue a lack of supply or TOG as a reason for his lack of ball winning capability

Steele is a goal kicking mid who has been playing half forward.
Like a lot of NSW kids(whether he played League or Union) he is tough as nails.
I'm not downplaying WHE and his perceived athleticism.
Money doesn't seem an object at Pieland given The massive sum that we surrendered to Chris Mayne with our leftover Cloke money.
Will be a fascinating year.
See if Dekka Hines vision wins the day.

That sounds an awful lot like JDG...

I'm a Steele fan and I don't see the "vanilla" call that a couple have made, but Steele would have been more of the same style of player we've drafted over the past few years.

We desperately needed some x factor on our list (Elliott and Howe aside its thin on the ground) so WHE was a good target, but there's no hiding from us overpaying, IMO.

Non issue. He only needs 15 possessions to have an impact and I would suggest that any time he went above 15 possessions he'd have nudged 100 supercoach points.

His problem is temperament. When things don't go his way he sulks or gets a losers limp and he lacks consistency in games. I have doubts over whether we can develop him through that, however if we do we'll have one!

It may be nature of the role that he is playing that means he isn't going to get 20 disposals a game. Jamie Elliott only averages 13.2 disposals. Never likely to average over 15 unless he moves in to the midfield.

Lacked opportunity at GWS. I think he can really improve at St.Kilda. He's not the flashiest player you're right, but I think he can become a solid mid for them who can also push forward and kick some goals.

Good kid too, watched him play as a junior he won't die wondering. It's a shame, he loved the Pies as a kid. Would have loved him to play for us.

As others have said, likely this is why we didn't chase him instead of WHE. We've got enough of these types. Even Blair fits that description. We need x-factor.

A lot of overrating of second round picks has gone on since WHE was drafted. Blokes with his talent aren't generally available in the second round, unless they are flakes.

Yep I agree. Was just chucking in my 2 cents about Steele. GWS would have made us pay a first round pick for Steele so I'm happy we didn't go for him.

Could be a varity of reasons for his average NEAFL form.

Continuity

Some players (for what ever reason) just can't get up in reserves football

Happiness

I'm very confident if given a good run at it that he'll be a quality player for us.

love the positive attitude FG. Hope it works into WHE's performance this year! He is talented no doubt.

Then Welcome Threads should only be Open for little Time after they Join The Club
Welcome threads should be your call.
That works for me.
Because it's not really a welcome thread unless you open them up :thumbsu:

I don't think not getting a game with GWS means you can't play. They have drafted pretty well and haven't missed he mark on too many. Pretty tough gig to get a spot on their half forward line.

For real?

They had a decent first draft, but from 2012?

O'Rourke
Jacksch
Plowman
Corr
McCarthy (classing as a fail due to not being diligent enough in regards to go home)
Pickett
Marchbank
Ahern (3 top 10 picks from 1 draft wtf)
