MItch has just come back from a long term injury , he also took 5 five marks in the second half , on a quiet night .

Don't care how people try and say he is, Mitch McGovern is never going to be a no 1 key forward on a team contending for a premiership.

Probably Burgoyne as it was a better fit with our age demographic at the time, Martin seemed to really boom as a player after our peak.
But Martin was at Richmond a much slower curve that he'd have had at hawthorn. He'd also have a decent haircut at Hawthorn.

In answer to the title thread, no, I don't think we will land a big fish this year.

Lynch to Tigers looks about done. I also wonder if we backed out of signing Sloan following a change of heart with where our list is currently at.

Mitch McGovern would take a first-rounder. Big price.

I'm not unhappy if we hit the draft, and play Glass, Worpel, Nash and Lewis consistently next year. Save the cap space, and load up on a big free-agent next year.

On a side note, I didn't realise Brayshaw is out of contract. He would compliment our midfield very well. But again, Melbourne would ask for a first-rounder minimum. Big price.

‘They’ll offer Collingwood’ - what a flag every 20 years?

Plus free pies, and dental visits, which unfortunately is not very popular their members. We will offer being part of the inaugural team from Dingley - the bet sporting facilities in the country.

Unfortunately for the tigers, runners up in 2018 won't cut it.

This is my dream exposed.

Crows offered more years to Sloane to keep him.

They can do this without much fear because if he falls off a cliff before the 5 years is up they can retire him and remove the $$$ from the Cap.

If Hawthorn were to sign him as a long term FA the contract remains in the cap for its entirety.

Sloane was well on his way to Waverly before the Crows went all in.

If he was prepared to field offers, I don't know why he would retire early and miss out on the extra years of pay.

This isn't like Cyril...

Main problem next season is we dont have any young guns we can get to sign front loaded contracts like we did with buddy and co in the day so we are going to have loads of cap space with an average group of players to pay

You can restructure deals - and we definitely have talent to do that with. Sicily, Mitchell, O’Meara, Hardwick. Tack on 1-2 year extensions with front loading.

Huh?

He’s 29, and been given a 5 year contract. Very slim chance of playing the 5.

I think it all counts unless he walks away. I don't see him

Cyril walked away and left money on the table, I havent seen many other players do that. I don't see him playing 5 either but why would he pursue more years from a club then walk away from it.

Because he thinks he has 5 years left, like all players do. Forget about walking away from it, that's not in his thinking.

We're talking about the reason Adelaide offered 5 years.

Fair enough. I still think his management would be trying to get the money out of them when the time comes. Sydney were still paying Bradshaw for a couple years when he retired.

Who said he was going to be recruited to be a number1 key forward. Not the plan if we were to move on him.

After watching our defence today, I would rather we went after JMac.
We lack that big presence down back that can take the relieving mark.
Will take some pressure off Sicily

What I can say is that Brand is not the answer.

If you're paying a 1st round pick for him in this draft, you'd want him to be / or have close to the potential to be a no 1 key forward (which he isn't). Especially in our case as we have've taken a first round pick in the last 2 drafts. Get him for a 2nd rounder and some other stake knives yeah I'd look at it.

We’ve butchered this regeneration. Long way off it In terms of top 6 footy. Lynch was our wildcard but he’s not joining.

If we give up a first round pick for Mitch M I will lose my mind.

We need a full rebuild now. No one wants to join a mediocre side
