Its not like you have to choose a win in either.

I agree. 4 points are always a worthy goal, whereas most teams don't set out to win the Pre-season comp. But once you find yourself in the GF(lite), you want to win. It is more than just professional pride, it can be a confidence booster for the start of the season, allowing players who were a little unsure to burst out of the blocks so to speak. I would rather come 3rd/4th in the Pre-season comp than lose the final. We lost the GF (lite) in 94 (finished 11th with 9-12-1) and 95 (11th/9-13), and look how we did.

In this case, I would rather have the GF(lite) win, because you only have one chance to win it (and thus gain the benifits), as opposed to 22 chances to get 4 points.

I can't believe this would be even an issue.

Four points can give you the chance at playing for a premiership. It can mean a home final. It can mean a weeks rest. It can mean you are one step closer to winning the premiership/or having a chance at winning one.

Having said that, if they want the pre-season to be taken more seriously maybe it could be a consideration that the team who wins the Wizz Fizz Cup actually gets 4 premiership points.

Honestly I'd rather the 4 points however I would have liked to have won last night just to give the players experience of finishing off with a win. I would hope that it doesn't play on their minds after missing out on 2 in a row. Other than that factor, losing it didn't really matter.

The Wizard Cup would have been a confidence boost but nothing more.

The Home & Away season is where they really come out to play.

Id rather both, coz Im greedy and I think the Coaches would agree.

The Wok brings with it grand final "experience" for young players and new silverware for a young club.

The merit of a home and away win in Round 1 wont be debated until after 22 rounds have been played.

Sieze the moment and if your team gaind confidence without injuries leading into round 1,well & good.

I dont think Collingwoods confidence is battered but that wont really come into play until the "next" grand final.

Injuries and suspension could be costly:eek:
