Worst afl player you've seen (and why)

Anyone said David MacKay for the tenth time yet?
Really don’t get what he brings to Adelaide, yet is 12 games away from being 10th all time at Adelaide. 220 games already played.
Come on... he’s slightly worse then Nathan VanBerlo, who was arguably the worst captain of all time.
He has an enormous cartoon style chin, which is vital to Adelaide's 'look like Tarzan play like jane' gamestyle

Tyrone Vickery is not even the worst at Richmond for his position. His problem, similar to Jack Watts, was his aggression at the ball. If you want to put in a Richmond CHF then swap him with Ben Griffiths. Could have anything, just never was.

The memory of Tyrone streaming into the open goal late in the 2015 Elimination Final, game on the line, only to, so predictably, spray it wide, sums him up perfectly.

It is no surprise you improved RAPIDLY when you gave him the arse.

I like to pick players based on a main reason why they didn't deserve to play as many games as they did.

If jack watts was pick 30 or so his career would have only lasted 5 years. Gifted games he didn't deserve in the worst team in the comp takes the cake for me.

Josh fraser similar boat. Number 1 pick and being a collingwood supporter we were without a genuine tuff ruckman for over a decade because fraser was handed games because we had no one else.

Zac Dawson is a disgrace. Not good at any part of the game. Never kicked because well he couldn't hit a target couldn't kick long.
Always got beaten in one on ones, reminded me in primary school when batting in cricket you would hit the ball in a certain persons direction because they would never catch it simply because they were useless. Only played because ross lyon was an afl coach.

Tim Clarke getting to 96 games was absurd. Was adept at getting credit and praise for everything bar his actual performance on the field, thus his longevity. Cannot remember a single good game or act but can remember a myriad of mistakes and errors.

The tanking Demons of 2003 giving Cameron Hunter two games is probably the worst / most underqualified player to take the field of the AFL era.

So agree with your Josh Fraser comment.
People and Collingwood fans are always pointing out what could have been if Josh didn’t hurt his knee in the Victorian Jersey.
Or if he was played in his favoured position at CHF.

All that I can answer to that is that Josh (although not a bad player) was never a Grand Final winning ruckman. Jolly was. Aggression is born not bred.

Dawson was handy.
A throw back to ya 1960’s style ruckman who punched the ball and did much else. Just fitted into that boring Ross Lyon role player mould.

To be fair young, richards and ugle were rejects from other clubs.
Tranquilli had that one game against west coast I actually was there and I think he kicked 5 or 6.
King probably gets in for his hairdoo haha.
Wild was the best of the worst

Oh yeah I don't care about his condition but that fat out of shape bloke that played one game a few years ago with the heart problem was a suburban level player at best.

Funny thing about Zac Clarke is that during his time at Freo he was actually a serviceable and semi decent player, a solid backup ruck and decent down forward when he was put there. A year in the WAFL dominating the competition actually didn't turn out too well.
I'd say he was a promising first ruck. But a bad Forward/Ruck.

Accept your list is shit, the topic is worst players not average to good. Witts, Castagna, Bruce, Levi, Jones, Masten and Wellingham ??? They aren't lighting up the hall of fame but they have been handy and useful players.
Yep it’s shit, that’s the point of this thread: make a shit list. Thanks for your support.

I assume Paul Chambers is at least training with the top 3 group here.

Man with some of the best nicknames in footy history...all of them well earnt.
Donut King (for 9 games without a kick), "Unco" at Geelong but finished up and remembered as "Torture" Chambers at Sydney.
How he played about 50 games (??) is beyond me. Must have had compromising pics of Sydney and Geelong coaching staff.
Nice guy though and smart, just shit at footy :thumbsu:

Oofh, I'd wiped that from my memory. Chambers' other problem is that he wasn't a good ruckman, either. Slightly undersized and uncompetitive.

Draft position should really go out the window the day after the draft, but it lasts an entire career. Watts is a great example of it. He still gets a game based on it.
