After seeing Esava Ratugolea tap the ball back in play, it’s gotta be him.

At least he does something.

You seen Jon Patton? The guy is a goddamn statue.

And I'd like to understand how a statue gets a blister. Because that is what allegedly kept him out last week.

I think Phil Gilbert put enough stink into 39 games to allow him an entry even though he doesn't meet the 50 game limit.

Phil Gilbert played 39 games for 2 clubs
  • in more than half of them (23) he registered 5 or fewer disposals.
  • in 3 of them he got zero disposals
  • in 2 of those three he got no stats at all
he averaged just over half a tackle a game though

He put in several games that could contend for the worst game played by a modern player

At the time it was astounding to watch. I never actually checked but I think during most quarter time breaks his piece of orange escaped without any bite marks.

Jayden Post played one of the worst games I’ve ever seen.

Was it against Carlton?

Post was frustrating as hell because you could see the potential a few times a game, and then you saw that his true gift was the monumental **** up.

In that one Carlton game, Richmond were up by a few points when Brock Mclean (serviceable, but also likely to be in this thread somewhere) gathered a loose ball outside Carlton's attacking 50, on the boundary. He went long to the top of the square. Post was standing at the top of the square. The kick was to his advantage. His opponent (maybe Casboult) was probably 5 metres away. The ball missed Post's face by maybe a foot. Bounced in the square. Goal. He didn't even get a hand on it.

Only a truly exceptional **** up could have lost Richmond that game. Even a falcon would have got us over the line.

Post is now married to Kevin Bartlett's daughter. Forever woven into the history of the club.

I reckon it could have been - possibly a season opener?

I can't remember now. Too long ago and I was too pissed - both drunk and angry, lol. It feels like a pretty standard **** up for season openers, and going home too pissed was definitely my standard response to them.

I remember that game, it was in 2012 when Carlton won by 4 points. We had loose players everywhere, and Post was outnumbered in a 3 on 1 contest.

Actually I will throw in a few I played with and against that never really kicked on. Kepler Bradley, Pettigrew, Matthew Spencer. Also how Jacob Surjan managed to carve out 100+ games.

Jacob Surjan in no way belongs in a worst player ever discussion, was a pretty good player and had a couple of years of excellent football in the back pocket. Have seen many worse players than him.

This. Shit call.

Always put in.

Israel Folau is the worst AFL player I’ve ever seen but I don’t think that he counts because he was only there for marketing.

I think Ryan Gardener from the Dogs is one of the worst AFL players I’ve ever seen, not exactly sure what they see him.

Worst player and in any discussion as to the worst bloke.

Really hope you're trolling as this is a ridiculous nomination.

He kicked 50 goals in 2015 and 40 goals in 2016. Very accurate kick for goal as well. Yes, he has declined in the last couple of seasons but he was a very solid forward for the Dogs. Should be nowhere near this thread.

75% lifetime accuracy - BEST IN THE AFL - will be a forwards/goalkicking coach as soon as he retires - a beautiful kicking action and form
