Good one. Steven Motlop has played 209 games of AFL football at two clubs which have spent most of his career in the top 4, and averaged 17 touches and over a goal a game during that time. Lachlan Murphy isn't fit to tie his bootlaces.

It somehow wasn’t even that… latter half of 2015, he was aiming for a big contract and had a great finish to the year.

2016, he turned up fat at preseason and largely underwhelmed. Filled his boots against shit teams but struggled without time and space.

2017, he started slowly but was our best performed in finals.

Motlop is one of the more talented players I have ever seen at Geelong - given our sides since 2007, that is saying something. But he never built on the agility and the running that he showed in 2013 - he really should have been so much better than he was.

Not sure. The club is on record saying that loss was the springboard to redemption in 2019 and we know what happened in 2020. There may not have been a dynasty without that loss prelim loss in 2018.
