I remember watching this one. It was killing me watching, esp from the back, couldn't tell the 2 apart without really concentrating

Well apparently Port Melbourne are wearing an alternate 'clash' jumper for the first time in their history this week against Footscray:

What is the nickname of Port Melbourne? Is it the Borough or the Boroughs? I remember having a discussion about this with a Port Melbourne supporter, with him saying it was the Borough because that is what the club said. It was when I was making these.

Also it isn't the first Port Melbourne alternate strip. The barcode jumper was the first one.

I'd say it's the Boroughs given that's what their logo says

Its both really. They are interchangable. From an official point of view its been the Boroughs since at least mid 90's. But its derived from when Port was the Borough of Port Melbourne. Most Port fans I know (my family grew up in Port and South) refer to them as the Borough. But Port, Boroughs, Burras, Burra and the Borough are all used across the fan base.

I also recall there might be a link to mules/donkeys (as in a donkey known as a burro). Port was proud working class, hard working and strong like a mule. That may just be an urban myth though.

Yeah it's not the worst matchup but it always shits me to tears when Adelaide wears navy shorts in the sanfl when they should be in a full white strip.
SANFL chop and change the rules when it comes to Adelaide wearing Navy or white shorts. With the annual "home" game that Adelaide host, because the SANFL have a white shorts away rule (which only applies to a couple of teams) Port wear the white shorts....

Ports nickname is "Borough" as it comes from the Borough of Port Melbourne, before it was elevated to a town and then a city. "Boroughs" is grammatically incorrect, and irritates me greatly (as does people saying "Storms" in relation to the NRL team). IIRC, the current logo was designed by a marketing firm who were unfamiliar with the term and just assumed it should be pluralized.
I love it, it's highly unique and very interesting, almost English football like and very Victorian. It really suits the club.

In a home game at Whitten oval?
Nah, Port should just grab a clash kit. Some local clubs have one, surely a VFL team can too.
This game was at North Port Oval (you can see the picket fence and Sandridge Events Centre in the background) but it was a final that Footscray were the "home" team in.
I like our clash jumper, and actually have purchased one, but a lot of fans are unhappy we need one, especially as Footscray/WB reserves joined the competition very recently, have a number of change strips themselves already and our club doesn't have anywhere near as much disposable income as an AFL club to come up with a different jumper every week.

Doesn't help when 7 have been broadcasting their matches here in Adelaide on about 144p. Extremely hard to watch.

in my local junior league I used to play in there were too teams one 'Blues' other 'Reds' both play on the same ground and wear the same jumpers. Only difference is the Reds wore red socks and the blues wore blue socks. They played each other with socks the only difference.

They be ****ed if one team was short and kids from the opposing side had to play for the other team.

I just found out now that the Reds use a red jumper for when they play the Blues. I forgot to say what their jumpers looked like. Well both teams where blue 2009 styled Western Bulldog jumpers.

Pathetic that the time honoured tradition of shirts vs skins has been abandoned
My school did it once, think the sports teacher got in a it of trouble for it and the other team wore bibs instead the next time around.
