I thought we decided it was Mansfield?

Here's an idea for a poll: Worst player to have gotten zero All-Australian selections.

And the answer is still Joel Smith, in case you're interested.

I'm sure Joel is devastated that a couple of ultra-lightweight Internet nobodies don't rate him.

Say what you like, he'd still be among the first 3 players selected at both Collingwood and Melbourne.

For Collingwood: Give me 1. Buckley 2. Tarrant 3. Burns/Rocca at least before Smith.

For Melbourne: Give me 1. Neitz 2. Yze 3. White/Bizzell

and for Essendon: Hird, Lloyd, Fletcher.

Most of the time, Rocca has a painfully minimal influence on a game.

Burns is a solid player, but lacks the damaging capacity of Smith.

Bizzell has had one sound season since he has been playing the game and needs to follow that up.

Even with a fading list I could still find a few Essendon players to put ahead of Fletcher, who is overrated to the hilt.

Yze is a good footballer, but he lacks the depth and diversity of Smith. He'd still be selected third at Melbourne behind Smith.

First comment - Didn't watch much footy in 2002 did you?

Second comment - Yze would definitely be picked before Smith.

I'd even select White, Robertson, Bruce and Heffernan before him.

first comment - you obviously didn't watch much either.

You'd even select Kermit. He's green but at least he can jump. White can't get off the ground with a winch. If there's a more uninspired, uninterested and lacklustre ruckman in the league I'd be surprised.

First retort - Watched plenty of footy in 2002, but can only guess you were out of the country washing your hair in 2001 & 2003.

Second retort - As a Melbourne fan I'd expect this comment, but again he lacks the depth and diversity of Smith, pure and simple.

Third retort - Agree with White and would slip Smith back. As for the other names, I'm not sure whether I'm more amused or bemused...

First comment - 7th in the B&F, smokie for AA selection, being talked about as the recuit of the season. If that isn't a good year then I don't know what is.

Unless Smith has grown 10cm in the past month then I would select our number 1 ruckman ahead of him.

Bizzell was excellent last year, even Geelong supporters will tell you that.

Yze has averaged well over 20 disposals a game since 1998 and is close to our best player. Smith is not much better than a Matthew Whelan.

Yes, but until he has ANOTHER good season he is no more than a one-season wonder.

Yze is a good footballer, but Smith can do all he can and more. Get back to me about Yze when he starts playing in kpp defensive roles and beats star forwards who are several inches taller.

First comment... only 7th? Pavarotti on a crutch would finish higher at Melbourne.

And, Melbourne's no.1 ruckman equates to about 8th ruckman at an average club.

I think you're missing my point.

Bizzell was fantastic last year, and did the impossible and had an even better season THIS year. 2002-2003 are two brilliant seasons, if I can count.

Yze is a better kick, more consistent and gets more of the ball than Smith. Has Joel averaged over 20 disposals a game since 1998? I think not.

Smith may be a better defender, but Yze is a premier midfielder of the competition. As you would know, our midfield is our major weakness.

Uhhh, this was 2002. We made the Semi Final. Assuming you go for Hawthorn, we finished well above you.

Same goes for you ridiculous White comment.

you know what happens when you assume don't you? No I don't follow Hawthorn, but I have been laughing at the excuse Melbourne calls a team for a few years now. And my "ridiculous White" comment is just that - VERY appropriate when you put "ridiculous" and "White" in the same sentence...they just fit so well!

02, 03 or 04. Wake and smell the gas. Your club needs HELP.

Clint Bizzell was awesome in 2002 AND 2003 for any of the one eyes supporters who don't watch other clubs.

Joel Smith might be a walk up start at Melbourne, but he would be behind a heck of alot of players, I can tell you that much. Yze, Neitz, Bizzell, White, Robertson, Heffernan, Johnstone etc would all be in our side ahead of him.

So, you can all shut up now.
