Ablett, Bartel, Corey, Ling, Chapman and Selwood had all missed large chunks of the season?

Hodge, Mitchell, Bateman, Crawford, Lewis and Sewell have all missed a heap of football this season yet Hawthorn are 12-2. Geelong people, who generally like to masturbate to excess still dismiss Hawthorn as a threat despite this fact. Deep down though they are praying that Hawthorn does not come at them at anywhere near full strength. Deep down inside their tiny little souls they know what will happen.

Have a nice day.

If Geelong were half as good as they claim, they would be 14-0 at this stage of the season. To see a truely great team you need to go back to the lions 2001-2003 or even us in 2004. Since 2004, there hasnt been a true power house in the competition.

Yes I think that is right.

No offense, but looking at you guys this season Geelong seem to have won a premiership in a very soft year. That Geelong side would have been spanked by the Port mob of 2004.

I don't know. You tell me. We could well be 14 and zip.
Geelong depth >>> Hawthorn depth

How could you be 14 and zip? A near full strength Geelong was a-holed by Collingwood to the tune of 15 goals.

Without all of your so called gun midfielders (Joel Corey, phleasssse!!!) Collingwood would have smashed the AFL record score. Heaven help you if a full strength Dogs or a full strength Hawthorn get hold of you.

Those guys really have missed a LOT of footy:
Hodgey: Missed 4 matches.
Mitchel: well, he's only missed 2.
Lewis: missed 5, about to miss a 6th.
Crawford: missed 6
Bateman: missed 4
Sewell: missed 4.

Total - 24.

Of that little clique of Geelong players you listed here's how many games they've missed:
Ablett: 1
Bartell: 0
Corey: 0
Ling 0
Chapman: 2 (HUGE loss)
Selwood: 1

Total: 4.

So it begs the question - how the #### have the hawks managed to do so well with their midfield being decimated week in, week out?

No wonder the cats are shitting themselves.

P.S. Croad's missed 6 games. By far our best defender.

But you've made your point - it's extremely hard for a team to cope when they have multiple injuries to star players in the same part of the ground. Yet, somehow the hawks have done it quite well.

Yes, but all those players played that evening so who knows what the result would have been had they not. Assumptions are the mother of all f*&k ups.

And why would you include Joel Corey in the OP if you didn't rate him? Do you always like to contradict yourself?

Yeah, we're shitting ourselves. What a huge choke it will be if you lose to us:thumbsu:

Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I was just articulating that you Geelong people have some fantasy that all of your midfielders are elite. I mean, you tell us as much all of the time. I merely picked six midfield types that you could compare to the six that we have had miss for much of the year. I would put Corey at about the same level as Jordan Lewis.

Yeah the cats fans would be so scared of Hawthorn. What have Hawthorn done in the last 20 years. Nothing. Not only that they have a "so Called" new superstar who cant even kick straight.

Hodge, Mitchell, Bateman, Crawford, Lewis and Sewell. Those players wouldn't be good enough to shine Ablett, Bartel or Selwoods boots.

Get ready for it Hawk fans, Massacre at the G in a couple of weeks, hope you'll be watching. Just look at how the Bullies dismantled these pretenders for evidence.

It'll probably take us until to first week of the finals to really hit the red zone, after all our boys have played a few games in a row together. So maybe yes, maybe no.

But I think Crypto makes a great point - Geelong would be stuffed if they had our injury concerns. We all know it.

Now I know you're taking the piss. Lewis is an undisciplined thug not fit to carry Corey's boots to the ground.

Oh and those midfielders are elite. And I'd rate Enright, Kelly, heck and even Prismall above Lewis.

This is a shocking post.

First off, what happened 20 years ago has nothing to do with what we're going to do to Geelong this year.

Secondly, the superstar you speak of has managed to kick that ball straight more times this season than anyone else. So try again.

Thirdly - the last time the two midfields lined up on each other the hawks pumped the cats.

Fourthly - the dogs played awesome footy that day, I'll take nothing away from them. But we all know they've peaked too early.

Prismall.

Isn't he the hack that has been running around in the VFL and can't get a game? Let's face it, if he can't break into a midfield consisting of James Kelly and Corey Enright how good can he really be?

He's really just a poor man's Des Headland.

Now I know you're taking the piss. Lewis is an undisciplined thug not fit to carry Corey's boots to the ground.

Lewis is only a thug when the ball is dead.
When the footy is there to be won, squib is a much more appropriate word. The hard man fears putting his head over the ball.

How quickly we forget Jess Sinclair and his gutless high shot on Lance Piccioane 20 minutes after the ball had left the area.

How about you do something constructive Zebra? Perhaps you could pay a visit to David Dench.

Ablett, Bartel, Corey, Ling, Chapman and Selwood

14, 14, 13, 14, 12, 13

4 games missed between them.

Hodge, Mitchell, Bateman, Crawford, Lewis and Sewell

10, 13, 11, 6, 10, 10

24 games missed between them. How many games lost through suspension, though?

-------------

The counter-question is, would Hawthorn be 12-2 without their first choice FB, CHB, ruckman and FF?

From the 2007 premiership side, Scarlett has played 12 games in 2008. Ottens has played 5. Nathan Ablett and Egan have played none.

Campbell, Franklin, Roughead & Gilham have played all 14 games. Croad has missed 5.

I would suggest Hawthorn would be in seven different kinds of poo without Roughead and Croad, let alone having any of the other names mentioned missing considerable game time.

Dumb post.

Our fullback has missed 5
Ablett was a liability, not an asset.
Ottens - I'll pay that
Scarlett missing 2? that's nothing, otherwise we'd be listing Browny.

The point of it all is that we've lost stacks of game time out of blokes that play in the SAME AREA OF THE GROUND. Arguably the MOST IMPORTANT AREA. That's what decimates a team. Yet the opposition has still had to play above and beyond their very best to overcome our decimated team.

#### we're good.

Nathan Ablett has the heart of a pea and about as much talent. I don't know why you included him.

Tell me, what would you constitute as a powerhouse?

Who is going to beat Geelong this year?

Best midfield and defence in the competition by a mile. Without Ottens and Egan, who are both All Australian players.

The Cats make Port Adelaide of 2004 look garbage, and they are coming close to competing with Brisbane.

So Croad is a FB now? Lines up at CHB an awful lot for a FB. Either or, Egan > Croad and has missed the entire year. Geelong have marched on.

Not much love for Nathan Ablett. Whether you rate him or not he was still Geelong's #2 key forward in 2007.

To be 13-1 without your CHB and your FF for the entire year and your #1 ruckman for more than half of it is pretty good, isn't it?

Could Hawthorn do the same?

This thread was about comparing the midfield strength of the two sides in games played so far this season. You seem to have had a little trouble identifying this.

Congratulations.

That's easy to answer LP, you've had a soft draw.
