Wyndham Vale flogged Newport a few weeks ago and are two games ahead on the ladder. Tell me how this makes any sense to promote Newport?
Newport has access to a stronger junior program than the Falcons.

Newport Power JFC tried to get an affiliation up and running with Old Westbourne in the VAFA, but this has fallen over with the demise of Old Westbourne's senior men's program.

Add to that the cultural connection between the Newport Panthers senior club and Newport Power junior club with many of the boys playing at Newport Power having fathers, uncles and cousins playing at Langshaw Reserve, and that has the potential for a stronger showing in the short and medium term in division 1 than what Wyndham Vale was projected to deliver.

Haven't the juniors done everything they can to stay seperated from the seniors?

Doesn’t make sense when the juniors want nothing to do with the seniors. My point still stands. I still wonder why Newport would be going up when Wyndhamvale have been a much better side this season. PLUS Wyndhamvale sit smack bang in one of the biggest growth areas in the country with not much competition unless Manor Lakes get going again. So much potential there

Wyndhamvale didn’t want to go up just yet. Still building

Full compliment next year ..amazing since leaving the sinking ship comp kids want to play EDFL..not to mention the club is almost free to play at due to the business plans in place that destroyed the opposition in the FDL😂😂😂
IF Deer Park manage to get their full compliment of Juniors in 2025 it will simply be getting back what they had in the 1990s and 2000s before the club got lazy.

Not sure why anyone cares about Deer Park. They are the EDFL 's issue now.

Though the standard of Div 1 is not what is was of years gone by at the top end, it is more even than ever.

This season anyone that makes the 5 can win it and any of the bottom 3 could beat a finalist, would be a long time since that was the case.

Smart move for a change by the league to already announce the 12 team div 1 competition next year and with no promotion or relegation the season after. Gives all teams time to be competitive

Clay Smith gone at Point Cook I see. Will Ian Denny ( currently at Moonee Valley) pop up there as coach?

From all reports Clay Smith wanted to stay on at PC, not happening now

Agree, good to see the WFNL on the front foot, last year's indecision over 2 or 3 divisions was messy and took far too long.

This week:

Werribee by 13 over Parkside
CS by 15 over Altona
PC by 7 over PCC to get off the bottom
YSE by 23 over Hoppers.

Battle for the 5 to go into the last 2 weeks.

PCC by over 100 against PC

Wheels have completely fallen off down at saltwater.

What has happened with all their good juniors over the years?

Very shocked by this one. I know there has been some uncertainty re the coach and other things but this is a bad bad result for them.

What was out there on the weekend wasn't anywhere near their best side.
The following are missing players V PCC that were in last year's GF side and new recruits.

Kolyniuk x 2
Deery
Burton
Rouvray (year injury but would have been handy)
Botsaris
Tsapatolis
Simms
Edwards
Hodge (played a half but too crook to continue)

I saw about 6 regular senior players out there and quite a few that would probably struggle to get a game in a competitive two's team anywhere else. Depth is an issue.

Juniors can drop off when it comes to senior footy especially if the senior side isn't competitive. Remember PC had a few lean years in Div1 before 2023.

Few big outs there for sure.

Is Burton staying next year ?

Juniors do drop off, but you guys have had so much depth in the juniors the last 10-15 years, you only need 1-2 to come through per year to be competitive in div one.
