Is it true that Albion will not have enough numbers to field a Reserve's Team tomorrow. I beleive the U18's have a bye will some of these maybe make up the no's ?

If your source for the info on the numbers on the reseve team is the same as the 18s bye........i understand your comment!
Anyway....18s will be playing Yarra away, and the 2s will field a team of 18 players on the park!

Albion will have enough players to field 3 sides (18s, Res & Sen) on a saturday compared to some other teams in divy 1!!

Wasn't part of the reason for no snr team in Div1 then 18s had to play in the B's that they wanted all 3 games at the same ground?

4 out of 5 not a bad start to the tipping.

Round Two - Feel free to agree or disagree, but it could get ugly in a few games.

Altona V Albion - 120 point win for Altona

Deer Park V Yarraville - 83 point win for Deer Park

Sunshine V North Footscray - Sunshine by 147 points

Port Colts V St Albans - Port by 12 points (closest game of the round by far)

Hoppers V Spotswood - Spotswood by 41 points

Feel free to agree or disagree.

Great effort by the Albion kids today.......and a few old heads showing the way...and i'll call it now..jason butina is the best forward in the comp...if only they could afford to play him there...
and as for jayden "tiger" post.....started well...but goes missing...a bit like his afl career

Thanks John!

Ok so I have been able to get around to watch Deer Park twice, Hoppers once, St.Albans twice, Yarraville once and Altona and Spotty round 1. My thoughts so far.

Deer Park - Big side, solid mids but not the youngest side. Great KPP although their full forward looks like his going for try out for the next michelin tyre add as a mascot. Once they gel together will hard to beat, from what I have seen still a clear level below Spotty and Altona however if Broadbent/Klix/Smith/Bullen gel and have rippers they can surprise and push the top 2.

Hoppers - Very slick slide if left to play their open style of footy, they love a shoot out and if teams want to get one with them will lose more times than not. Moles is class, Mulligan adds KP strength in the back half. Mids look solid but maybe lack some pace, where obviously shown up against Spotty. Top 3

St. Albans - Jenkins is the key, they dont have alot of depth in the midfield outside of him. They have strong KPP with Henderson and Fitzpatrick. biggest weakness is in the ruck, will slot into 5th if they can string together a few wins

Altona - Post is a huge get and looks a cut above them, have supreme runners and show that when they spread from defence, will be hard to beat for the year. Will run Deer Park off their legs, can't see them not making it to the final day.

Yarraville - Have recruited well, looked the better side for the 1st quarter against Deer Park on the weekend, was surprised with their midfield where they had broke even most of the day. Couldnt sustain there 1st qtr effort and really lack some key targets up forward and size down back is also a worry. A side on the up.

Spotswood - What can you say? one of the best local footy teams in Victoria. Okeefe is in a league of his own, dominates through the midfield and Cloke up forward provides a huge presence. Langlands is always reliable and provides a bit of class. My tip for the flag and based on rd 1 against Altona where a good thing beaten, imo should have won by 5

Hopefully get around to a few other teams this weekend.

gee i would have loved a 1 game AFL career he was fortunate enough to have 3 years for 30 games, now playing back home

just not as lucky as those former Albion juniors currently running around in the afl at the moment (cant remember there names)

Couldn't help myself here.....as an interested onlooker on Saturday, I have a few things I'd like to add.

Rumourman, I have to agree with you, great effort by the Albion kids indeed, the 2's players and a number of officials also. Not on the field though. On the boundary line. The effort made by these stand-up gentlemen to hurl abuse at not only Post, but to then turn on a mother and her two daughters for telling them to keep the abuse and language down is nothing short of disgraceful! I'd be extremely proud of the group in front of your club rooms dressed proudly in their Albion gear. Bravo! What a great family friendly culture down at Albion. I shouldn't harp on this for too long I guess; after all, I am talking about the same club that once had Glenn Manton in its ranks. Great bloke that guy was. It might just be me, but based on his past indiscretions, and what I was witness to on Saturday, it could well be that the poor treatment of and towards women is accepted behaviour at Albion.

Rumourman, it's no secret that the 2010 Premiership was brought. We all know this. It's also no secret that each and every player who played in that side that has left has nothing positive to say about Albion. They won't even turn up to a reunion. Why? Crap like I witnessed on Saturday. That's why. People in footy talk, and I can tell you that people within the WRFL and past Albion players alike are not impressed. It’s the culture of the club and the treatment of its players that drove players away and will continue to do so. Stephens brothers are the latest that come to mind…..You may have some promising kids, but they won’t stick around. Not if that’s the crap they have to put up with. Bottom line is there is a culture at Albion that is driving and keeping players away in their droves.

On Post more specifically. Whilst on, he had Buttina beat. Easily. It’s also a known fact it’s hard to stay relevant if you are not on the ground. If you watched the same game I did, you would have known he was benched for the last 1.5 quarters. Instead of laying in to the kid, why don’t you recognise, and applaud the fact that this young bloke came back to play footy with his mates instead of cashing coin? This coincidentally is more than I can say for a number of other ‘big name’ recruits around the comp.

Im sure he's back playing for free....

So what Albion bought a flag....whats your point?
Every club buys a flag..try winning a flag with 22 home grown players brought up through the juniors..it will never happen.

And as for the players that have left having nothing good to say about the club and not going to attend a reunion..
Of course they wont speak highly of the club..they we only there for the money...
They all left for one reason...the money was being stopped and they wanted glory..
Good riddance...
The current group of kids are all home grown....loyalty and mateship will keep them there..
The stephens brothers want out...of course....the money has gone and albion wont win many games..

And as for the group outside the clubrooms having a go at a woman and her kids....i didnt see it...
that doesnt mean it didnt happen...why didnt you step up and say something?

And as for jayden post getting abused....
Give me a break....a past albion full forward copped a lot worse than that

you all need to worry about your own clubs

Haha funniest thing I've heard, you have to be joking. Starters we had 12 Albion boys play in 2010 flag read past posts not going into that again. Blokes who are leaving or left are leaving for bigger money, only 1 player has left to play in a higher comp.
As for saturday I was there standing in crowd and those girls got sucked in to crowd because the crowd was getting stuck into there brother. If you can't handle it don't turn up or sit on other side of ground. Nothing bad was said and girls gave as good as they got trust me

I'll address the most important point first. From the above quoted reply, I don't see you condemning the actions of those hurling abuse at women. What are people who read on here to read from this? Is your silence confirmation that you, and by extension, your club don't have an issue with the behaviour? Or am I reading too much into things?

You are correct, I didn't say anything. I didn't need to. A number of Altona people did. From conversations with people involved at Altona, I am led to believe this incident won't go away either.

Regardless of why players are at a certain club, generally speaking, upon leaving they have positive things to say. This isn't the case with Albion. All I ever hear is negative comment about the club's culture (or lack thereof) and the treatment of it's playing group.

You've missed my point too. I don't care that you purchased a flag. My point is that not one of the Premiership players that have departed have a positive thing to say about Albion.

On the the boundary line incident. If you think what occurred is acceptable, regardless of what the ladies gave back, you need to take a good hard look at yourself. The insults directed at those ladies were disgusting and those men should be ashamed of themselves.

At the end of the day, both yourself and Rumourman have had nothing to say about the culture problem you have down at Albion which means one of two things. 1) I'm right or 2) You aren't involved enough to know.

Been down Albion for 25 years and our culture and club are fine, can't see how you can judge our club when you probably come to our ground once a year. Players that leave are always going to say bad things about the club if they didn't they probably wouldn't be leaving.

I've got a lot of friends from all footy clubs and this is first time I've heard any of this, so maybe it's just you!!!! next time you come to Albion come inside and point out who is yelling abuse and we'll sort it out ok? If you don't come back trust me you won't be missed

I would agree with you on St. Albans nudge me but being a supporter I believe if they finish 5th they will cause some real damage in finals this year. The depth isn't around timmy Jenkins yet because they're missing two strong midfielders to help him... One being new recruit Matt smith and Brent Taylor (bnf last year). These two boys will be back in 3-4 weeks. Joel west their main ruckman went down with rib damage before half time against deer park (back next game). Jarrod Tuppen (gun chb or ruckman) is out another 4 weeks on suspension. Then you have 4 vfl boys, 3 at Werribee and one at Bendigo. Dean Putt at Bendigo is 200cm and runs like a midfielder... You may prove me wrong, but St. Albans only lost to hoppers and deer park by 3 goals... And with these ins I believe they will be stronger than you think. Obviously have to make finals and get all these boys out there first. But all these inclusions are truth and hopefully make some success for this year :) let me know what you think.

Gee what a shock to see some one from St Albans rolling out the excuses. Injuries again.... if only they could get their best team on the park

Lol at people having a crack at Jayden Post are you serious?

Bloke played what 30 games of AFL at a rabble of a club he was offered a rookie spot by another club which he knocked back because he just wanted to play footy with his mates

So instead of selling himself to the highest bidder he has gone back to his old club and will get no where near what he could at other places and blokes are knocking him for that and not being a star playing AFL?

Dead set i do not play at Altona and would be mates with probably 5 blokes down there but that is the most stupid thing i have ever heard jealous little keyboard warriors

Nothing wrong with the culture at Albion...28 years ive been there...compared to you?
And if women get involved in slanging matches silly them....
From what ive heard they gave as good as they got....
Dont turn up to a game making grandiose statements about a club you have no idea about...
