It's a fair point mate - should respect be given automatically or should it be earnt? Could make an entirely new thread on this.
I tend to go with the former actually (if I know nothing about that person), however in saying that, my point still stands - I lose respect for most females of gen y that I meet in some way or another.
A lot of these girls are straight out of school and haven't had a chance to experience life yet. They haven't travelled, they haven't had a serious relationship, they haven't done a lot of things that someone a little bit older might have. I look at them and think they're immature and like little kids a lot of the time, but they can't help that. It's the ones who start off like that, and live for the weekend until they're in their 30s, without experiencing the world around them that I have little respect for.
