just saying the way we are going at the moment on the back of 2 solid wins and 9th spot- are we really a joke?
Lynton, relax a bit man.
You've been edgy the last few days.

It was a joke, and a very small one on a jumper from a year the joke was relevant.

Hi Mero

Love your site and have sent messages via email in the past. Just a couple of updates for the Melbourne site when you have a spare 15 seconds!

  • I have attached the 2017 ANZAC jumper - Soldiers on the front, bugler on the back in lighter blue. (better photos to come)
  • 2014 Clash front sponsor is fully black
  • 2015 & 2016 front sponsor just AHG Group is black
  • 2014 & 2015 pink Lady have the fully black sponsors logo
  • 2017 Home, White Clash & Red back clash do not have sponsors logo on the back (I understand this will change shortly, thus creating additional jumpers for 2017)
The sponsor updates above are for the dedicated sponsor page on the site

No rush, just wanted to bring to your attention

Cheers

He doesn't put sponsors on the jumpers for copyright reasons

Hi Mero. The Collingwood 2003 heritage jumper had the middle stripe continue above the number panel, at least in this photo (& by inference on other photos at the Getty Images site):

I've got a shot of Buckley's jumper that shows it clearly too - probably from the Adelaide Advertiser at the time. Thanks.

I've got an idea for the website that relates to the Collingwood jumper above. The jumper above was a modifyed version of the jumper that was shown at the promotions for the Heritage Round. As can be seen in the article in the attached picture is the shot from the promotion for the heritage round, which you can see that the Collingwood Heritage jumper did have two stripes.

My idea is a list of the jumpers that where proposed to be worn in matches but weren't jumpers that were worn by mistake. To the proposed jumpers I will also add the Adelaide Showdown Jumper which was the state jumper.
To the mistake jumpers I present the Fremantle jumper from the 1990's which had the panels on the front of the jumper the wrong way around. This mistake jumper was only worn by a few players as they received a new jumpers on that night, which had been put together wrong by the makers.

The Collingwood jumper still puzzles me to this day. Someone within Collingwood must have approved the design/samples for Adidas to go ahead and produce a couple of sets of player issue jumpers and a couple of hundred replicas all without the middle stripe.

The drawing of the collingwood Jumper is incorrect, the middle stripe on the back of the jumper was always part of the jumper and the side stripes go all the way to the top.

Also, here is one of those Freo jumpers.

That there is one valuable jumper if it is an official jumper used in the match. Why I say it may not be an actual jumper is that the article on the mistake that I have somewhere said the mistake was made by Sekem, but I could be mistaken. But taking that it is the real thing, their was only about five or six of them on the field, worn by the players that got new jumpers on the night.

The Collingwood jumper sounds like the heritage jumper was rubber stamped through the Collingwood front office and it wasn't picked up on until the promotional shots. With how you say the stripes are, with three on the back and two on the front it sounds like a jumper of a small player was the one copied, and may have lost the middle stripe on the front when it was done up, by the lace up method. The thing is we are looking back at a time when they didn't care much about how the jumper looked, or if it differed from player to player. On the Essendon page it says that some of the players sowed that sashs on the wrong way. The Collingwood player who this jumper belonged to could have removed the material that had the middle stripe on it so it was a tighter fit for him. The jumper was copied from the one in the Collingwood muesum and we get the stripe missing.

One thing, this page doesn't have any links to it from the other pages. It is also missing the Collingwood Heritage jumper with the two stripes.

The mistake with the Fremantle jumper would also be good to show.
IIRC Mero has said that it isn't linked to the website top stop people claiming that team x were gonna wear this but they didn't when it isn't even real (an example I can think of is people claiming Carlton used a light blue monogram in the 40's or something)

Somewhat related - I have had the Mandela effect happen to me - I have memories of the Dogs wearing a red version of their 1997-2011 jumper.

Although tagged adidas this jumper (and all other PI adidas jumpers that were made from Sportswool) were almost certainly made by Sekem, the sportswool and care tags are the exact same ones as used on the Sekem jumpers, even the way the cuffs are done are exactly like a Sekem jumper.. There are also Adelaide jumpers from around that period with Sekem neck tags but adidas logos on the front of the jumper. I don't think this jumper is Match worn as it looks brand new but it is definitely player issue.

He does have a reason for it not to be shown. From memory it's so he doesn't get emails from guys named Keith who swear Carlton wore baby blue monograms in the 60s because their grandpa told them.

Oh, I still get those emails regardless, don't worry.
But yes, the Scrap page is for people like ourselves who know a jumper was intended to be used may even have been sold, but was never used in a game.
In particular it's for jumpers I've spent the time to make, then found they were never used in a game.
Jumpers that are obviously merchandise, like Brisbane did for Simon Black recently won't make this page.
Possible additions are Melbourne's Chinese dragon jumper, but I've never seen a clean enough pic of the dragon.

Do you mean the jumper worn by Melbourne in the China game?
