Upwey Tecoma FNC News:

The dust has settled on the Preliminary Finals and we have 3 teams in the Grand Finals, the Senior and Reserve Football teams and the B Grade Netball.

We now need every supporter to get on board, we are playing Woori at their home ground, and it is essential that we take away any home ground advantage by overwhelming them with our crowd – we must have everyone there dressed in club colours and barracking strongly to ensure our team sees and hears that there is enormous support for them.

We also need our supporters to get down on Thursday night at 7.30pm to hear the all important teams being announced. A roast dinner will be served without charge to the players and Coaches (all players who have played games this year not just those in line for selection), and be available for supporters for $5.00.

After Match
We will be going back to the rooms after the game to hopefully celebrate 3 wins, regardless of the final results we want to see you back there.

We will get under way at around 6.30 to 7pm – this will give you time to go home and freshen up before coming down.

The senior players will be taking a bus and aim to be back at the room by 7.30pm

Entrance is free for members (Playing, non playing, Supporters Group, Sponsors, or 100’s club) – just show your members ticket to get in. If you have lost your card please see myself or Silver on Thursday night or at the ground on Sunday as we have organised independent security to help us control the gate and they will want to see it.

We will be charging $20.00 for non members.

We will have roast beef rolls and we are looking for Casseroles to be donated for the night, we would really appreciate it if every family coming could bring something – (just bring it when you come down).

I hope to see you on Thursday and Sunday supporting the real Tiger.

Go the Upwey Tigers

Three Peat Premiers YVMDFL Veterans 2007/2008/2009 - Congratulations & Well Done!

The finals for the YVMDFL Veterans 2009 Season were hosted by Croydon North and the high standard that we set in running the finals making all Clubs and supporters welcome, was well received by all.

I would like to congratulate the Committee, Coach, Trainers,Team Manager, Runners and all the Volunteers who put their hand up to create another succesful year, not just on the ground but as a club. I would also like to thank the Canteen Manager Jane and Bar Managers Kate & Phil for their efforts, not just during game day but on training night dinners. The Vice President Greg and minutes secretary Vanessa also for their support and work.

The players - congratulations on another year winning the Grand Final it was good that we weren't favourites and the competition was up for grabs by any one of the top four sides. This year saw the team finish top, play 4th and for the first time it was one by just one kick.

Croydon North AGM Club Rooms Wednesday 26th August saw the Committee reelected for another term in 2010 with the President Shane Latham and Vice President Greg Lewis.

What a laugh, you make it sound like the game was played in good spirits and the best team won on the day???????? Not what we heard, in fact it was a complete debacle, broken bones, bad sportsmanship, fighting and the game was called off by umpires and the team in the lead at that time was pronounced the winner. What a friggin joke and a disgrace. Veterans is supposed to be played with good sportsmanship and playing like that puts the whole future of the competition in doubt and brings nothing but disgrace upon it. There are at least 2 teams that I will not name that really have to take a good hard look at themselves and question just why they signed up to play Vets in the first place. Was it to take cheap shots at opposition players? using the game as a way to lash out at as many opposition players as possible not even when going for the ball but behind play. Does that make you feel like more of a man? If you suffer white line fever and think that the bounce of the ball signals a "free-for-all" then think again, grow up, play the game the way it is supposed to be played or else don't bother signing up at all. It is NOT a boxing arena for juvenile delinquents who want to take out their week's frustration on unsuspecting players from the other team.

Umpires for the Upwey v Woori game:
McNiece
Shoebridge
Lemercier

Moin's little mate doing the 2s. Quite surprised at the umpires who finished above him!

Interesting move by Upwey; charging people to get into their rooms on Sunday night. Either they see it as a fundraiser (got to pay all those recruits somehow) or they have little respect for the local's not with the club.

Regular supporters and family and friends etc all welcome at no cost. Had some trouble in the past with unknown gatecrashers, especially when the under 18's have played in the granny (unfortunately not a problem this year). Very witty post though.

Whats everyones tips for Sundays games, will Upwey get piped at the post by Worri with there home ground avantage. Have Monnie twos any ones players available now that there not in the granny?
l think Upwey should win easily super side would be very disappointed if they lost after dominating all year & Monnie to win in the twos.

Congratulations to Mick and the boys at OFCFNC on the three premierships. A fitting result for a great season.

With a reasonably young senior team and great juniors things are looking good for the Bloods in 2010.

Would that be a first time for the club to win all three in the one season?

first premierships Ever for reserves and 18s we think ...records pre 1960s a bit sketchy............thanks craffles it was a terrific year for the club .....Any news on your new coach yet?....TT not a bad idea by Upwey had we done that we may have been able to Sign up Freddie Flintoff for next season:D

went with the Ofcfc and Upwey Tecoma pre season but think Woori have a huge chance now hopefully there is not as much wind on Sunday

Yes, now that everyones over Silvan, lets get stuck into Upwey! If Monkey gets hold of em on Sunday, with Stolly at his feet those two might kick 15 between them & with Ryan slicing them up in the guts i can see a Woori win,& Monnie 2s getting a few 1s back, could get ugly for Upwey, they might even have to pay people $20 just to get em roll up after the game!!:D

Thank you everybody for your concern over the fortune we stand to make by charging $20.00 on Sunday night-the facts our,we originally applied for a licence extension to 1.00 am which was granted-we then had a visit from the licensing police who went through all the details as to security etc,all of which they where fine with-but they requested that we resubmit amend our licence application to 12.30 am and to levy a charge on non members to prevent the event turning into a problem with overcrowding, noise etc (being a Sunday Evening) We agreed to this and our amended licence was approved.

Upwey to win both, clearly the best side in the Seniors with only one loss and a massive percentage advantage over Woori - 270 to 166. Maybe because it is played at Woori (how does that work) it might get closer.

Upwey even more clearly dominant in ressies - percentage of 426 to 191. I hear on the grapevine that there aren't any players eligible to come back for Monnie from last week - so Upwey easily.
