has anyone heard about the yarra glen alexandra game this weekend..... apparently i heard from an alex reserves player that one of there players was taken out behind play from a yarra glen foward, not sure if i should mention names but the mail is this was caught on film and there could be charges laid.... just wondering what the league is gonna do about the situation if anything being the second incident from yarra glen this year.

Interesting you say that, as i have heard a simmilar rumor, although not from a first hand source, but it tends to suggest and ex afl player was involved... bit average if this is true

Definitely happpened, the Alex player was down for a minute went off with blood rule but came back on later no major damage done. Still not a good thing to happen.

yeh i just heard it from another player at alex now..... apparently charges might be laid.... and the incident was caught by 2 seperate ppl videoing the game...

The Board can't do anything unless a formal request for investigation is made. A bit like the police not being able to act unless the victim presses charges.

not sure if its true or not but i heard again from an alex person that the alex player didnt hit anyone,, in fact he was at the other end of the ground and wasnt playing anywhere near the yarra glen player....he apparently didnt even get time to retailiate as the player from yarra glen was on the run when it happened and hardly anyone on the ground saw it.

also alex is apparently taking it to the league with yarra junction which they wouldnt do if he was the instigator in the whole thing...

ps i wouldnt wanna get between these two in a punch on probably 2 of the strongest guys in div2

What the hell are the league thinking?
Gemabrook for the grand final must be a joke, right.
If it was the final of the world kite flying championships right spot.you would have a better day a upwey. That way at least three men and a dog would have a good day out.

yea played at emerald today.

with rain the during the week the ground was ankle deep in mud everywhere. the mud was that bad that everytime the ball hit the ground it stopped on the first bounce.

were any other grounds this bad today and can games be called off due to the state of the ground? eg. excessive mud

The Upwey Ground was fine after our President did his early morning thing on the Super Sopper we recently purchased from the Croydon Golf Club.

Will be interesting to see who stitches up third place and a double chance in Division 1 next week Upwey 3rd and Woori 4th same points 48 and the same percentage 140.38

I expect both Upwey and Woori to win. Upwey have a fair history at Wandin but will recieve a solid contest.
Woori will kick a cricket score v Gembrook. The Brookers haven't kicked a heap of goals of late.
Woori to take the double chance by %.

Woori v Monny (QF)
Upwey v Healesville (EF)

Not sure if Thornton will make it to Healsville next Sunday for their qualifying final. Rumour has it the team bus is stranded at the club minus its wheels.

Of course it is a wet weather game, but mate this ground was a disgrace. i just feel sorry for those who have to play cricket on it this year :D

You obviously haven't been around the Yarra Valley long.

exactly, just be happy that you got a warm shower afterwards, after a game in the uphill mudpit that is seville currently, you had to somehow get clean with water that felt like it was pumped straight out of the fridge. very cold.
dare say that belgrave, Mt evelyn, emerald, seville (etc...) surface's would be in ordinary nick but thats the yarra valley so you cant complain

I feel sorry for Seville that they have to play on that ground every second week. You know your ground is'nt to flash when you look forward to playing at Belgrave! Lucky for us that the ground was that muddy or we might have lost by even more.

Not sure if they're gone yet but I guess they would be dissapointed with losing. It's a very open finals race this year and there should be a few good games. Seen emerald on saturday and they got the job done in tough conditions.

All this talk about suitable grounds and finals venues got me thinking. Why do all finals need to be played on neutral venues? There are some logistical issues, obviously, but I don't think they're really valid unless making money is the number one concern. It shouldn't be.
At the moment there is no reward for finishing 4th as opposed to 5th or 2nd as opposed to 3rd. Yarra Glen finished a game and plenty of percentage clear of us, surely they should be rewarded with something more tangible than just wearing home shorts! They should get home ground and home supporter advantage.
I know people would complain about the lack of parking at Kinglake or the terrible rooms at Thornton but those complaints are irrelevant when the football is what is really important. Supporters can work around those problems and clubs would be rewarded on merit not on whether they can afford the greatest facilities or because they're centrally located.

Having said all that, obviously the grand final being the pinnacle and showcasing 2 teams that have won finals already could be played on a neutral venue, although it still wouldn't be essential.

Fair call. The ground was a shocker. You would think given that it has such a big slope that the water would run straight off.

Shane senior eight goals form the middle and muddiest man in history. Fair effort.

The key is just dont get a kick... I think I took out the title of cleanest bloke on the ground.

For a ground that is hosting finals Warby's ground was a disgrace on the weekend. I have never seen it as bad as that. I think from seeing Mt Eve's ground on Sunday even it held up better than Warby's.
