It started when the cliffhanger of Costner being shot was so poorly written and executed in the following season

I was expecting Sons of Yellowstone but got Sons of Bambi

Was that when he helped someone on the side of the road?

How did everyone feel about Sheridan playing a significant role in the final episodes. Namely playing strip poker.

To be honest I didn’t think it added much to the show, but it was filler to pad out what was a sprint to the finish line.

This final series has been filled with Sheridan throwing in stuff to promote his next venture “6666”.

As I have said previously had he not been preoccupied with so many spin off series,
It would have allowed him to finish off Yellowstone in a much better and systematic manner.

He got greedy and had way to many brands in the fire and strung the series out.

The writer strike, sure didn’t help him, but let’s be honest once Costner departed the story really needed to be rapt up asap, the filler scenes with cowboy life in Texas , reining, fancy cowboy stuff for Sheridan to show off his horsing prowess was needed to deliver the guaranteed minutes of film to the network.

I still thoroughly enjoyed the whole tale from start to finish, but I couldn’t help but feel that the second part to series 5 was rushed and not as well put together as the previous work.

Would have been really fascinating to see how this series would have ended had Costner not left and remained on.

Especially if instead of killing off Costner, they killed off one of the Duttons in Beth, Kayce or Monica.

Beth being killed off, would have seen some wild insane retribution and revenge by John, Rip, and Kayce.

Monica being killed off, would have seen the Duttons and Indians join forces, would have been equally compelling.

Some god ideas there Grots. Monica being removed and bringing The Duttons and Indians together wouldve been interesting. Of course, section of society would jump up and down and call it "woke"

And we've seen it before with great effect

My hot take on Season 5 part II, is that Sheridan sabotaged the show and didnt care about it once Costner left and it felt like he did his best to take a dump on the potential legacy of Costner's John Dutton.

Finally got around to watching the last two episodes and, ye gods, what a ****ing train wreck!

The whole Native American subplot with the pipeline was pointless and could have been left out. Taylor Sheridan inserting himself into the show - complete with hot groupies who lose at strip poker - was laughable.

Worst of all was the conclusion to the Jamie/Beth feud. We're supposed to believe that detectives coming to the house to investigate what happened would have failed to take forensics, which would have revealed that most of the blood present came from Jamie? And it was clearly established that Rip was an hour away, but he somehow manages to show up 5 minutes into the fight. That sequence should have ended with Beth under investigation for the disappearance of the state A-G, instead the cops drop a 100 points of IQ. Awful, awful writing.

As mentioned elsethread, I'm done with Taylor Sheridan. He can tell a great story, but he doesn't seem to want to anymore.
