Bright thing I notice about this lot so far is that the oldest one of those three starts next year as 21 year old.

I'm more interested seeing the club negotiating for them rather than the 24yo Boyles and Campbell's.

Problem with Thorp and Dowler is Hawthorn and their uncanny ability to ask for way way way too much (see: 1st Round pick request for Boyle last year) and the fact we have used our 1st round pick on the Ayce.

Lets offer them Wight for Thorp at max if they want a trade

I would love both.

But I think Dowler is probably the one we have real shot at getting, possibly with the draft pick we get or upgrade for Ray.

Dowler And Thorp?? What are they like, if they want a trade and there decent players hawthorn wont jst give them away and do we have a player that hawthorn really wants that is out of contract

Todd Grima, Todd Grima, Todd Grima.

Seriously. Let's draft this kid.

I'd rate him above the crap of Shultz, Newton, Johns, and Boyle being thrown around. Admittedly I'd take Boyle for the right price, but I'd prefer Grima, who would come free. Hansen is another good option and absolutely worth trading Ray for, but I'd still draft Grima as well.

Someone else will have to pull up facts, figures, and opinions on his SANFL form, but he sounds like a more likely - and cheaper - option than anyone else.

I'd take Hansen for Ray and a swap of picks and using a third or fourth rounder on Grima anyday. Failing that, Boyle still isn't a terrible option. None of these players will solve our problems (Grima has the potential to be a very reasonable forward and is the sort of big-bodied full forward we need) but they do give us a chance at having more structure.

Hansen for Ray. Draft Grima.

I'm not selling it as the be-all and end-all, or the miraculous fix we need. And both options are a risk. But it's worth the try.

I reckon Reid has the most potential out of the above lot but is not going to be an answer to our problems straight away. Realistically, Hansen is probably the only one that could possibly come in and do a top job but even then he is under a massive injury cloud. If we are going to succeed in the next two seasons then our only chance is a ready made (which is unlikely) or one of the current crop of players has to really take it up to them in leaps and bounds. Even the Hawthorn faithful suggest that Franklin was just a reasonable footballer with potential when he started and look at him now. You just have to be a bit lucky I reckon.
