This is my young team of 2006. I am not referring to the Judds and Kerrs of the competition (yes I am aware that they are young). I am just including young players who have significantly improved, became an intergral part of their team or burst onto the scene this year.

B: Andrew Raines / Michael Johnson / Heath Shaw
FB: Cheynee Stiller / Troy Chaplin / Clint Bartram
C: Mattew Rosa / Steven Salopek / Adam Bentick
HF: Dale Thomas / Travis Cloke / Dean Polo
FF: Danyle Pearce / Trent Hentschel / Matthew Moody

Ruck: Hamish Mcintosh
R/R: Michael Rischitelli
Rov: Marc Murphy

Interchange: Grant Birchall, Andrew Swallow, Brad Symes, Ivan Maric

Not a bad looking line up, Would thrash any VFL or SANFL sides! :D

Your thoughts?

Brock McLean should be captain for a start.

In fact, Brock McLean would thrash, I mean THRASH, that midfield on his own.

And Brock McLean is miles better than both of them put together.

Few minor points related to the Port boys in the side:

1) Pearce has not played forward pocket at all this season, has been playing on-ball so possibly a wing or on ball position.

2) If Raines and Shaw really are favourites for the rising star, I'd expect they would be playing positions other than back pocket ... possibly the easiest position on the field in "modern football" to get unaccountable touches. So if you rate them at all, perhaps half back.

3) Im not sure what definition of "young" is being used but Hnetschel;l is closer to 24 than 23 and seems to be significantly older than the remainder of the players.

very good idea doing the team...
but you let yourself down while completing it sorry...
mclean, simpson, surjan. drum, lewis?, hurn, mundy....

gretaidea though

\Whilst Brock was good last year, he has improved dramatically this year.

Must be hard for all those numbnuts who said he was 'ready-made but not likely to have much development' as he has improved in every single game he's played over his career. Just keeps getting better.

have to agree with you on mclean. he is by far the best player from the 2003 draft at the moment surpassing cooney. walker is showing signs of being the best.

I haven't seen much of Walker this year, but I'm developing a soft spot for him, I hope he gets it together, same with Sylvia.

. . .and then when he does, he can come and join his best mates Colin and Brock at the demons!

I already thought Mclean was good last year, so his form this year hasn't been a surprise to me. I thought the thread starter was talking about more about bolters this year, like Bartram or Dunn from Melbourne etc.

Fair enough. Bartram is a good icnlusion then, pick 60 and has played every game.

the second coming of James McDonald.

Dump Stiller for Walker and it would be right.

How the hell is Justin Sherman in their?? Has been arguably the best of his draft so far.

Definitely deserves to be in that side!!! Has been outstanding for the lions this year :thumbsu:

I understand how you picked your team but by your rules I dont understand why Travis Cloke is in the there.

RJ Mclean is in the best young pure energy team of the year, but he is by himself

Travis Cloke made it by default. Which other young CHF fits the prerequisites?

For the record: Players such as Mclean, Sherman, Griffen etc.. really impressed me last year. Doesnt mean I dont rate them just that I didnt think they fit the pre requisites I set for this side. Im espeicially a huge fan of my namesake Brock Mclean!
