First time I've seen System of a Down and QOTSA compared I reckon.
I wasn't comparing them by genre. I compared them by the number of songs I like. Just don't get why QOTSA are loved so much.

Their recent stuff is pretty meh, but those first 3 or 4 records are outstanding.

IMO they were the best rock band in the world for a handful of years through that Self-titled, Rated R, Songs For The Deaf, Lullabies era.

bob dylan.. i tried and tried, but reminds me of some burnout at an open mike night.. though i do like his travelling wilburys stuff.

"like a rolling stone" is toted as the greatest song of all time but i get about a minute into it and press skip
Yeah, I had Dylan as my main nomination for this thread a few pages back too. Gotta admit, I copped some heat for it - you might wanna zip up that flack jacket my friend.

Dylan & The Beatles are the two most overrated artists on planet earth.. I've got my flak jacket on.

Yeah, nah…… Wrong on both counts.
Agree here disagree on qotsa.

You would go well in the song comp. Love to have you on board. Theme this week is a bit tough but songs under 10k views. Host Pickitt

All welcome to join

I can get people not liking Dylan’s voice and style. But the Beatles? Come the * on. So many undeniably catchy tunes.
Definitely don't want to discredit the Beatles or their fans - it's about 90% of the world population after all.

Maybe I need a gateway into some of their more obscure or edgy stuff? I was drowned in their poppy stuff through my child/teenhood and none of it ever really grabbed me. I'm from that very rare yet unenviable group that actually prefers McCartney's stuff with Wings to his Beatles material.

I'd be very happy to be introduced to some of their more challenging releases if they exist.

I will say, Dylan took me a long, long time. And I totally get your argument as well.

But then one day - it just clicked. I will say I prefer his early stuff way more. So for me the first 6-7 albums. I've always copped flak for saying Blonde on Blonde is overrated and the two before it are far better (still think that now). Blood on the Tracks in the mid-70s is really good too.

I've got your back on both of those.

Couldn't agree more on the Beatles.

I like them, I've got the boxset that JB used to have on sale with every album. I only ever really listen to Rubber Soul, White Album, and Abbey Road. Some great stuff in there, but maybe it's because I'm a musician as well, they are to me easily the most overrated band ever.

The biggest problem with Dylan & The Beatles is the saturation factor, saying someone or something is overrated is not saying they are talentless either by the way.

The history of music is abundant with great songwriters & musicians it's just lazy, comfortable with their tastes mainstream listeners that categorize a handful of people as the greatest ever.
