Going to attempt to play 18 tomorrow in our monthly medal.

I'll set the line at 19 points at $1.90.

0-10 pts - $51
10-15 pts - $4.80
15-20 pts - $1.75
20-25pts - $2.40
26+ - $10
How much can I get on at 26+

Have to be careful doing that even.
I’ve broken a few clubs over the years just from doing that or slamming it into the ground etc, puts a little weak spot in the shaft and then BANG! One day it’ll snap mid shot.. dangerous too! If it breaks in the wrong spot.

The weak spot is like a tiny stress fracture almost that can get bigger over time. Had it happen to me years ago, a friend rolled his cart bag down towards mine and it crashed and knocked mine over, bag tipped over the buggy in such a way it was standing on the club heads in my bag. The driver obviously took most the force.

Took me months to realize it but occasionally would get a little click sound/feeling from my driver. But could never see anything. Over time it kept happening and eventually it got to a stage where the driver was losing distance on every hit.
Eventually peeled back one of those little barcode stickers near the head of the driver and there was a small fracture which had obviously been growing in size with further use.

Maybe a club fitting will help :D
In the Spring mate, only thing is im going to get fitted to my dodgy swing so going to need some adjustments in a year or so. Its the one thing I dont ubderstand about fittings for players learning, I dont want to get adjustments that paper over cracks.

I play at Cranbourne. No comps but still handicapping , the format is permanently par at the moment to help speed up the rounds and fit more groups in with the 2 person limit.
That is one of the best things I’ve ever heard. The amount of hate that comes in for par is ridiculous. I think it’s the best format of the game as Stableford advantages the high handicapper.
Scores are typically better in Par too. It’s also quicker and easier to teach new players.

In conclusion, PAR!

I’ve always thought Par really advantages the high handicapper tbh but I’m just happy to play any format.

Played Tullamarine today. Don't play the exotic courses like some, I'm deep in the Covid ghettos.
Finished with 89 off the stick including a fun 9 stroker on the 3rd.
Many small missed opportunities including putting a long eagle putt within about 2 feet and proceeding to then 2 putt it into a par.
Could've been better, could've been worse. Standard game for me.

stableford favours high hcers i feel. 3/4 points easier to acquire.

BUT

handicaps are there for a reason and a reflection on the players ability. so in theory evens out

It’s been quite good they are really putting the pressure on us to get our rounds done in 3.15hrs so they can fit everyone into the field ...

Even at tee off they are reminding us to make sure we stick to par and the target time for the round.

Not everyone following it though people in front of us were slow so I looked up their rounds out of curiosity. Hc in 30s and 40s but both recorded a few 9s and 8s for a - so weren’t picking up when out of the hole.

thats disgusting (not picking up).

34 points today in the rain at my home course (City Golf Club). Putting let me down today as well as on occasion the driver. I hit some sweet shots with my iron.
The 18th to finish is 400m nearly into a little breeze and rain with OB on the left. I hit 4 iron off the tee to the heckling of 3 mates. Then hit 5 iron short of a creek and PW to 5m short of the back pin. One putt later I walk off with a 4 a 3 while the others all had 6 a 1. 😎

The National was windy and harsh. After weeks and rounds at peninsula, putting was difficult.

Mask I found became moist
Yeah the mask did get very moist I found also. Maybe it helped me focus because I had 41 points, but I think common sense is going to have to prevail and pull it down at times walking down a fairway with nobody near you to get some clean air in.

So had a few days off work, 4 rounds in 5 days, worst I have ever played. After getting my worst ever score two days ago, topped that today with a 71 from 9, 4 shots worse. Slicing every single iron or tee shot. Lost 4 balls lol. Am sounding so negative but everything has just turned to garbage and it's like I'm changing every single swing trying to get it right. A new backswing, downswing, swing plane, takeaway on every shot. What's worse is ranges are closed so I can't even practice ball flight, coach isn't accepting lessons with the lockdown, there's no options other than getting worse and worse as each shot im trying something new and getting further away from a decent swing.

92 at Gisborne today. Course and especially some fairways a bit soggy for my liking. Feels like I've extra couple of kms.
Guy in the pro shop told me they have a couple of hundred members that are in the metro area that are now unable to play

If it’s possible I’d say try and jump on the course when it’s quiet and play 9 maybe with only a 7-9 iron.

First step to fixing a slice is understanding why you slice .. for me I do 2 things , open the club face on the takeaway ( I was breaking my wrists quite early), and swing over the top.

From those 2 things I’ve got a handle on my irons to be a fade at worst but I struggle with driver still thought I was getting a hold but without the range I agree it’s hard to fix

But step 1 is understanding it. Slicing comes from swinging out to in and opening the face at impact to try hit it straight (rather than hard left where the plane is taking it)

I’d say take some videos of yourself in the back yard, on slow mo , and see what you’re doing with the club on takeaway.

as you said its lockdown. Id say get lessons lessons lessons. but as you cannot.....dont worry about the swing. Focus only about club face being square at impact. Dont worry about scoring.

Sippa makes a good point re 7-9 irons. The longer the club, the more dispersion. Ergo, shorten the club (7-9 irons) - dispersion is less.
