Played Saturday at KH. Put the rain jacket on while warming up on putting green, brolly up on the 1st tee. Brolly never came down, feet were soaked by the time we got to the 2nd. Dry weather shoes (fool). Literally did not stop raining for the entire round. Partner finished +1, which sort of kept us out there. Have to say the course played absolutely pure, I suppose the rain wasn't quite heavy enough, but greens rolled ok and fairways underfoot were firm.
Anyway, stuck it out and finished 5 down (Par). Nice lunch and fire was on inside.
Yeah I'd play KH in those conditions too but not if I was a member there and couple play any other time it's not raining and miserable :D

Anyone who played golf on the weekend in Melbourne should be institutionalised imo. I'll give peternorth a pass because its probably better than seeing his team get smacked by 10 goals ;)

Beating Richmond is nothing to brag about.

I'm assuming the same front that hit us mid arvo hit you as well?
We walked off the course... which was good as i got to watch the Saints lose, and Blues smack the tiges.

Would be same or similar. From tee off in the early morning for round 1, upto end of the round 2 in the arvo we were battered on and off all day

Of the 180 booked on for Saturday comp only 33 of us got through 18. Rain was as heavy as I’ve played in, and wind was blowing in hard from western port bay. Amazingly scored 30 points (3 x 3 pointers in the first 4 holes before the rain hit helped).

Got 7 holes in today before it got too dark. Still managed 2 over with 10 putts. 6 pars and one double bogey. Everything is good with my game, I just need to get better at everything.

I playe dtoday in the rain and wind at natuional gc. It hurt and still hurts both mentally and physically. I broke 100 at least. Morning round was good and scored better than my handicap. However in the arvo on a different course in moonah was just poo. rain jacket on and off and on and off and brolly up and down is crap. only lost 1 ball for the whole day which was nice.
What’s wrong with you? 😂
It was wet and chilly yesterday so I gave it a miss. It’s still wet and cold today so I’m spending the day with two of my daughters on holiday’s from Uni.
Will play Saturday near Brissy with a mate where it’s warmer.

Can't work out the attraction of heading out to play in freezing cold/horrendous weather. You're out there and you can't wait for it to be over. Ball goes nowhere etc.

Would rather stay in the lounge room with a bowl of ragu and watch a trout fishing video.

Liked everything except the fishing video 😂

Seems like few of us currently going through a bad patch.
I've been nailing my tee shots, and putting well, but everything in between is shit.
Nothing worse than hitting a tee shot 250+ straight down the guts and then chunking your 2nd shot 20mts down the fairway.

Perfect example, yesterday on the 9th, absolutely creamed a drive 275m down the middle, which left 95m to middle of green...skulled PW off the toe at right angles straight into ankle thick rough.

Interesting. I’d say that’s fair. Another part of me might say but 5 day members are members too. But then I still feel 7 dayers should have most rights

I think all member classes should have equal vote at AGMs etc but agree that if a club chooses to limit reciprocal rights to full 7 day members then that is fair. Ultimately a matter for the clubs to negotiate.

I just wish Brisbane had a decent higher end golf club worth joining. The reciprocal arrangements at some clubs pay for themselves.

Is it a case of Royal Qld and nothing else?

Yes. And RQ is pretty ordinary in the context of golf courses in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Nice green complexes and well conditioned, but a very ordinary and underwhelming piece of land in the middle of a very nothing area of Brisbane (an industrial zone surrounded by factories/warehouses and ports) + the architectural value/significance is on the low end. Would be ahead of RH and RP but not by a country mile.

Outside of RQ, what are the 3 best/highest profile courses in Brisbane?

275m ... Must have been a strong tail wind with how wet it is these days

No, absolutely nailed it.
Off the tips, ball stopped 1mt left of new fairway bunker on 9th which is 275 from tee….your FIL can confirm.
No wind assistance.

FYI on Sunday, same hole off white tees went through fairway on same hole….was wind assisted.

I can show you on Sunday 😁

Brisbane GC
Indooroopilly GC
Brookwater or Nudgee probably

All of those courses would be ~third tier courses in Melbourne

Looking forward most to the iron play tbh
