Finished the year off with a mediocre 93 at Wembley Tuart today.
Off to Japan tomorrow for 2 and a half weeks, so my golf will be in the shitter for a couple of months after I get back.
Didn't get to my goal of a sub 18 Birdies 15 handicap, finished at 15.7
GA handicap at 19.2
Goals for next year - Birdies handicap sub 13 at end of the year; GA sub 17

Thought the day began smashingly when on the range I found a bright plastic tee. Great. So it joined my tour tee.

A par on the starting hole 11 and thinking this will be a good day. Par on 12 as well. Wowee!

Started to lose the swing after. Just holding on.

18th lost the tour tee which irritated.

Coming around on 1 getting nervous with everything. Doubts come to mind. Then on 2 hooked drive into the long stuff. Hacked out a shot. Lost ball further in. Provy another lost ball. And I changed cap on this hole which I discussed thereafter.

Played a lot of golf in the last two weeks for my standard.

54 over 9 holes at Whaleback.
116 over 18 holes at Collier - Lake and then Island (53 on the first 9 and then just completely lost how to swing a club after that).
112 over 18 holes at Wembley (old course)
59 over 9 holes at Wembley (old course)

.. and then today I finally reached my goal since I started! Broke 50 on Pines at Collier!

I wasn’t going to play tomorrow, but I sure as shit will be now.

Found a Titleist Pro VIX ball on the 6th and pocketed it, pulled it out for the last 3 holes and had putts for par on all 3, only making one and narrowly missing the other 2.

Driver had been really playing up recently until the last few drivable holes, just kept hooking them left. I messed around on the driving range beforehand and tried a few different approaches and actually picking a target, and found setting up 2 inches back from the ball helped. Hopefully that method keeps working.

Have also bought a new putter, mallet style and appear to be putting better than I did with my old blade.

Felt really good to break 50!

52 at Wembley playing the back 9 of Tuart for the first time.

Highlight was a sliced drive that ended up in the next fairway intersection rough with a hill blocking my view of the green. I absolutely blind smoked a 5 iron that landed on the green about a metre short of the water, however a mile from the pin, but a birdie chance.

Proceeded to 3 putt. 🙃

How’s that Lob Wedge treating you? Was it a 64?

He's a gun. To add context.
Hole 1 is ranked #1 on the course, 2 is #6. 9 is 470m from the tips. 10 is ranked #5 I think. 13 is 500m from the tips (I birdied it 2 days ago😉) and 15 is a 200m par 3.
He broke the course record a few years ago which was set by Jack Nicklaus during the 1971 Australian Open. Pretty good to be on a board with Jack. That round included n Albatross on th 9th.
Won the WA open (or PGA) a few years ago but not good enough to be a full-time Pro. Currently helping out at the 7 mile course driving a tractor/mower ATM is my understanding.

I honestly really like it.

With the amount I’ve played in the last fortnight though I have been practicing some slower swing speeds and it feels like it’s coming together now.

Back to work next week though so I’m sure I’ll regress a bit 😂.

Good stuff. You need to love a club first for any possibility it will love you back. Worse than cats.

I have two of those ‘sometimes’ assholes!

Obviously if I thin or blade it, it’s horrible, but otherwise it is a solid 75m club for me and touchwood I haven’t thinned or bladed it much.

Got this week off, might work a few days but reckon I will get in a few rounds.

Got a voucher for flinders but would love to play somewhere new too, Rosebud North would be a good one to tick off.
