Actually Kouta's career came crashing down after he did his ACL in the 2001 semi final against Richmond. Johnson did cost Kouta the 2000 Brownlow Medal but he got recognised with selection in the AA team & being named the AFLPA's player of the year. Recognition that some players rank higher than the Brownlow Medal.
